Welp, I posted a (what I thought anyway) well reasoned post concerning gun control on Cracked. And it got deleted. Hmpf. That's a first.

So it's not just pathetic, it's second-hand pathetic.

Are you serious about that? If so, then:

Watched the new red Dawn trailer....looks like we might see the first time a TEC-9 clone is used by the good guys.

If that's so, I'll be building a rocket to the moon in my basement (if Wallace and Gromit can do it, then so can I).

That trailer looks interesting. Kathryn Bigelow's a pretty good director.

Were you kidding, but left out the ":D"?

It'll be interesting to see how this movie turns out, given the level of DoD cooperation that they received. But I hope that it has no political agenda (making Bush look too incompetent, glorifying Obama's role, etc.)

Haha, I can't wait to tell that info to my wife and see how it affects her opinion. (Though it's not like she thinks the book is high art or anything.)

R.I.P. Tony Scott (even though I actually never thought too highly of his directing style).

Spartan198 08-21-2012 11:41 AM

Apparently there's an assault rifle version of the Dragunov.

commando552 08-21-2012 05:05 PM

Not sure about that particular picture, but have seen mention and pics of a 5.45mm Dragunov variant, think it had a two letter acronym like "AR" or something like that.

EDIT: Was the AF, found some information about it here. According to google translate it was part of a project codenamed "Flag" in the 1970s, which had the aim of increasing the performance achieved from the 5.45x39mm cartridge. Someone who speaks Russian may be able to get more out of this. There are some really intriguing designs on that page such as a double barrelled assault rifle much like the seemingly mythical AO-63. In fact it may be the AO-63, as it makes a reference to the Abakan trials, which is where the AO-63 was tested.

Man on Fire was my favorite by him, which has his signature style to it. Followed by True Romance, then Deja Vu.

All of us who are under 30 (and even those under 20), please do this right now:

I'm actually seriously going to discuss this with my wife (even though neither of us want kids right now).

I'll do after I turn 18 next year in March. Right now I can't because I'm 17 and not in a relationship.

Doesn't have daddy, Dr., lil' or pimp. I don't think you're allowed to be a rapper without one of those.

I want to respond to this and call out the poster's hypocrisy so bad, but apparently the website's blocked me or something.

These are the very people that the anti-gun groups claim should be the only ones with guns, yet when they fuck up, somebody out there still blames the NRA and the Second Amendment?

Can someone explain to me how the hell you're supposed to rock this monstrosity forward to get it off the rifle? Why do people even make these kinds of things?

The Wierd It 08-28-2012 10:12 PM

I swear the front end isn't meant to come that far up the bracket so it can be rocked without hitting the barrel.

If indeed that is real and not a shop.

It is indeed real. It's an experimental high capacity magazine. It was dropped because the RPK drum held as much ammo and worked much better.

BlackIce_GTS 08-29-2012 07:04 AM

These ones seem to be twisted off to one side slightly. That one... hmmm.
Also the stock won't work.

commando552 08-29-2012 08:03 AM

The original pic is a real magazine, if memory serves they are incredibly poorly made and can pop apart at the bottom when fully filled due to the extreme pressure on the spring. I think the way the mag is able to be inserted is that the front of the magazine lacks the protrusion that hooks into the mag well so it can just be pushed straight up into the gun without rocking it as you normally would. Without this protrusion a mag would of course normally fall out, which is the reason the bottom/front of the mag has the loop over the muzzle. You still effectively rock it in, but the pivot is at the muzzle rather than at the front of the magazine well.

How much per hour?

S&Wshooter 08-29-2012 05:40 PM

I was thinking earlier, if Bowie knives weren't mentioned in Texas' state weapon laws as being illegal to carry around and if the restriction on carry around knives with blades longer than five and a half inches wasn't there, I'd probably carry one.

I'd carry a sword instead. :D

Hmmm, I might be there around the same time (if I do go, though, it's going to be Thurs/Fri, most likely). I'm going up there for an interview - what are you going to be doing?
