I approve, that looks rad

What's the deal with the GIGANTIC video ads I've been getting on the site recently?

Spartan198 08-12-2018 12:47 AM

It's punishment because nobody has made this a real thing.

It's your penance for not using adblock. Also, tell Bunni, I don't think posting in this thread will do a whole lot.

Spartan198 08-13-2018 05:33 AM

I don't run any adblockers on IMFDb, but yet I still don't see ads.

On a side note, why doesn't Bunni ever pop in and socialize? Is he ashamed of us? You're ashamed of us, aren't you, Chris? :(

I have adblock and I still got them!

commando552 08-13-2018 04:31 PM

The biggest variable on whether you see the adds (in my experience) is what skin you are using. IIRC correctly the adds only appear if you use the default skin (Vector), but if you use a different skin they don't (I use the skin titled "PageTarget061714" a don't get any adds or the white spaces that some people get with add blockers).

I run Ublock and still got video adds

Evil Tim 08-16-2018 04:07 PM

I run Adblock Plus and Noscript, so my main issue is giving a site back enough bits of itself that it works all rather than getting ads. :D

Went to the range with my buddy last week, I have to say my bad luck streak with older Rugers is still running strong, as my P944 doublefeeds 2x a mag minimum on everything that isn't +P; I'm going to try to trade it for a .22 pistol so I can get more rounds downrange to keep working on fundamentals. My grip isn't so bad anymore, as lifting weights has really done wonders to get my dominant pinky and ring finger back almost to normal; there was a noticeable difference between last week and when I shot in July, in grip stability/strength. Am looking forward to getting all my guns back, so I can shoot something besides beaters and carry pistols for once

Blame Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed Odyssey for my lack of activity.

Red Dead Redemption 2 for me

It's way too over-complicated for me. Rockstar fucked up with the "cores" and all that unnecessary crap. RDR 1 did fine with just stamina and health bars and there was absolutely no reason to complicate it any further. Then I got a bounty just for accidentally bumping into someone while casually strolling through town and later bumping into a tree killed my horse, at which point I said "screw this" and went back to Assassin's Creed.

The fact that Rockstar has been infected by the "[insert title] Online" bug and seemingly has no desire to make DLC story expansions like Episodes from Liberty City and Undead Nightmare anymore only exacerbates things for me.

Excalibur 12-05-2018 03:46 PM

Ok, I'll admit, I hate the cores part and how every time I need to shoot a follow up shot, tapping the trigger again cocks the hammer and it actually throws off my aim.

I hate how every time I run into a tree, I get thrown off my horse.

I feel that enemies can be a bit too spongy when it comes to certain guns.

This, oddly enough, doesn't bother me at all. It was a bit jarring at first, but once I got accustomed to it, it became second nature.

I got used to it later on, but having shot real guns of these types, it was weird for the trigger button to both meaning shoot and work the action.

Similar combos of a DefTech launcher (rather than the Street Sweeper shown above) and underbarrel SMG were used in both Cliffhanger and RoboCop 3, though the make of SMG differed in each movie according to their pages. A MAC-11 in Cliffhanger and Cobray M11 in RoboCop.

Was thinking about picking up Vickers Guide: AR-15 volumes 1 and 2 after hearing and seeing some good things about them, then I saw the price tag of $95.00 each and said "fuck that."

Is there anything he can't do?!

Edit: Also, Kit Up! really needs to vary the articles they send out in their email news letters. If I see "No dress blues in 2019" or "Blackwater founder to explain cryptic message at SHOT" in my email box one more time, I'm gonna throw myself through a fucking window.

For me, it was when it was ok for parents to let their little boy dress in drag and do a strip tease in front of grown men

I live in CA and while I wouldn't put it past some attention seeking activist or celebrity, I don't know a single normal person even among liberal progressive types that would allow their kid(s) to do that. So I'm inclined to think behavior like that is way overblown by the bible thumping aspect of the right.

Rockwolf66 06-25-2019 02:15 AM

I have a friend who works at adult establishments back East. He's seen people on Facebook try to book pre-teens as strippers there. Said Clubs said "NO F***ING WAY! WE ARE 21 AND OVER!"

I've had a friend post about such things and how it's abusive and he had "progressive" friends of friends defend the actions.

Spartan198 06-25-2019 06:06 AM

I'm not saying it doesn't happen at all, but I can't fathom it happening on the scale that some claim. Kind of like how gun control proponents blow out of proportion the number of gun crimes committed with rifles. I have to treat both sides' arguments with the same level of skepticism in order to be objective, I'm not going to completely dismiss one side while taking the other on blind faith.

My dad is an extremist lunatic who wants to see the streets run red with the blood of liberals, Democrats, and immigrants, but that's obviously not the mindset of the average gun-owning conservative, is it? So it's not really fair to judge all based on a few.

Plus, I don't think one can seriously take pedophiles trying to abuse kids as any kind of proof of a widespread willingness of parents to allow or encourage the abuse of their kids, just like back alley muggings don't equate to bank robberies.

Excalibur 06-27-2019 02:14 AM

What bothers is isn't if it's common or uncommon or an outlier but that the notions are being entertained out there.

All it really takes is the willingness to look at a concept, no matter how crazy and it's possible to become reality.

I preferred to not be paranoid with incoming gun laws but the moment we don't pay attention, laws will be passed and have been passed to restrict our rights

Spartan198 07-19-2019 05:52 AM

Just read several issues of All Star Batman and Robin, Boy Wonder. I knew Miller liked the phrase "Goddamn Batman", but sheesh.
