Site down again?

So I tried to access the site this morning and it didn't work. Something up?

funkychinaman 03-12-2014 04:11 PM

Same here.

funkychinaman 03-12-2014 08:58 PM

Has anyone contacted Bunni or Zackmann?

funkychinaman 03-12-2014 10:37 PM

Finally saw the alert. Weird how some pages load while others do not.

Jcordell 03-13-2014 10:55 PM

So what is going on with the site? I haven't seen the alert.

It appears to be gone. It was a yellow "No updates while server is being updated" sign.

Jcordell 03-14-2014 02:51 AM

Ahhh. Got it. Do we have any idea how long this is going to take?

Mazryonh 03-14-2014 03:55 AM

This isn't something like a Denial of Service attack, is it?

The Wierd It 03-14-2014 05:46 PM

I'm still getting a cached "technical difficulties" page.

MoviePropMaster2008 03-14-2014 05:56 PM

Strangely, I hear nothing from Bunni :(

AND nothing from Zackmann08

Figures that these Denial of service thugs attack when both of them are out of town.

funkychinaman 03-14-2014 06:06 PM

I don't think we should jump to any conclusions, but it is a bit odd we haven't gotten any news, either here or on the FB page.

Jcordell 03-14-2014 08:50 PM

Yeah very odd indeed.

"(Can't contact the database server: Host '[IP ADDRESS]' is blocked because of many connection errors; unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts' ([IP ADDRESS]))"

Does it actually say your IP address, because mine just says 192.168.130.2, which is not my IP address.

That's the site's IP address.

MoviePropMaster2008 03-15-2014 06:41 PM

Has anyone tried to contact Bunni or Zackmann08?

Doesn't it strike anyone as odd that no one is trying to send the rest of us messages as to the reason of the outage or when they think it might be up ..... ANY news at all ?

I had assumed someone had. I think I have Zackmann's email somewhere though.

Not sure but i believe it is an easy fix as well, with the site administrator simply having to run the "flush-hosts" command to unlock the database. The fact that it hasn't been done though suggests that either their is a bigger technical problem, or neither of them are around and haven't seen it. I've been travelling for a few days so have only just seen this, how long has it been down for?

We're now on Day 3. The Latest Updates page is still up, and the last update came at 8:43 on 3/12. I'm not sure what the default time zone that is though.

funkychinaman 03-16-2014 09:14 AM

And we're back. 0513 EDT, 3/16.

bunni 03-16-2014 09:22 AM

Well that really sucked. Coincidentally @#! I've been traveling since Wednesday, I just got home at 2am after a 15.5 hour drive to an email from Alienqueen about the errors. One command and it's all back up, looks OK to me now. I don't know yet what caused the issue but will investigate, may have been an automated response to a flood of edit requests through a spam bot off the top of my very tired head.

Post on my Talk if there's any issues (I can already see the Categories are missing from the Sidebar), I'll check again first thing in the morning to see if the issue arises again.

Unfortunately, because the site was technically still 'UP', just showing an error, none of the automated systems notified me of an issue. :/ I'll have to rethink the notification settings.

Excalibur 03-16-2014 04:23 PM

Awesome, the site is back up.

Ben41 03-17-2014 12:14 AM

Glad to see it back up. Anything that can be done to take care of this sooner in the future?

Mazryonh 03-18-2014 03:11 AM

Is there any evidence that the site downtime was caused maliciously? There are plenty of scripts and botnet tools freely available on the internet that can be used for Denial of Service attacks these days.

Markit 03-19-2014 01:15 AM

I think I might be the only one having this problem, but every time I try to upload a picture now I get the following error: "Could not create directory "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/0/00".

EDIT: Hm, it seems to be a particular issue with the filename I was using.
