Was IMFDB down yesterday? Or was I imagining it?

I couldn't get on to the site all of last night

yeah. this has been happening from time to time now....strange isnt it? :confused:

Well I would have suspected that the nation's BLIZZARD was somehow affecting the servers (gotta love that GLOBAL WARMING ;) ) but IMFDB's servers are in Southern California from what I gather, so no SNOW outages, but a lot of websites I check are either DOWN or super slow.

Gotta be hackers from Red China ..... Red Dawn 2010!

Chinese hackers do love to mess with stuff in the US but it's probably not what we're dealing with. As for global warming, doesn't it seem like it's actually getting colder every year?

It was down for me as well, Unfortunatly I seem to have people keep using up my login attempts. I'm not a mod yet My account's not worth the effort to hack it dumbasses.

The site's now just VERY VERY slow in loading

We've been working on it since yesterday. The server had both hardware and software issues, I will keep this thread updated.

For some reason the Forums isn't slow, but the actual site is on my computer

Same here. Forums load fine, but the site drags as if I were trying to pull a 747 through an airport terminal.

As a MOD I must add my completely useless two cents and chime in that I now rarely update the IMFDB site because it is really slow. I mean really slow, like a snail on valium slow.

Kudos to Bunni for all his hard work. Hope the issue gets resolved. I will do a tribal chant and ritual sacrifice to speed things along.

Thanks for the sacrifices, it's much appreciated. :) The new server is slowing being brought online as we speak, the old one fell on its sword.

New users will now need to be approved by an administrator.

I have not been able to do any edits so far due to my time being limited for a short time, but it seems fast. Wow, what a difference from the slow loading

Great news. :D I was getting several PM's a week from these bastards!

There's no telling how many spammers were already registered prior to Chris' changes and are just lying in wait to strike, though. The most recent spammer report I made in the New Spammers topic, for example. I got that message after registration was altered to admin approval.

Of course, once they rear their ugly heads, we've got MPM and MT lying in wait to... well, you know.
