2010 Wish List?

So what do you want to add to your collections in 2010?

I find when your collection is as big (and old) as mine, the hard part of adding something new isn't paying for it as much as finding it in the first place. Which means my purchases will continue to be based on what I happen to come across, but nevertheless, here's what I'm espescially looking for:

Spanish Astra 400 pistol
Japanese T-26 revolver
Finnish Lahti L-35 pistol
Dutch KNIL M1891 revolver
Colt M1917 revolver
Mauser Kar 98a
Spanish Mauser 1893
US Krag (any)
Belgian Mauser 1935
Snider-Enfield Mk.II** 2 and 3 band rifles, Canadian marked.

I'm also seriously resisting the urge to start a side collection of 1930s bank robber / law enforcement guns. I've got a line on great deals on a Winchester 1907 and Remington Model 8, but I know that this inevitably leads to spending thousands of dollars on a S&W Registered Magnum or a prewar Colt Super 38.

Walther P22
1911 variant(s)
Mp5 in .22 *forgot the name*
Ruger Mini 14
possibly a tricked out 10/22

k9870 12-31-2009 05:29 PM

The .22 mp5 is a gsg-5.

What do you think we'll see new at shot? I know the gen 4 glock, 30 round .22mag keltec pistol are there. Rumor is remingtons introducing their pistol (they hired a head of R&D, handguns, and have a pistol divison, who knows if theres one made yet.)

Wondering what else there is. Ruger stole the sow the last 2 years with the lcp/lcr, amybe something else this year?

A CZ-75 with a Stainless finish and ambi controls; a S&W Model 60

Dude, too bad you don't live in Houston because there's a gun store here that I know for a fact has several Registered Magnums and probably most of the guns on your list

Colt Commander non MKIV series (lost a bid on one a few days ago)
Colt Government non MKIV series
Colt National Match non MKIV series
Can you tell I hate the MKIV series? They have the ugliest roll marks around.
Inglis Hi-Power (may be bidding on one in a few days)
870 Wingmaster Magnum (may be bidding on one in a few days)
S&W Model 29 - 4"
S&W Model 19 or 66 - 2.5"
S&W 4506 (may try to get MT2008's 4506 if he still has it)
S&W Model 27 - 3.5" to 5"
FN FAL Para
AR15 carbine

After watching Public Enemies, I want to also.

Yournamehere 12-31-2009 08:58 PM

Right now it's just an AK-47 and a Browning Hi-Power for me. There are probably others but these are all I need for now.

S&Wshooter 12-31-2009 10:31 PM

I want an AK, but I can't ever scrape together enough cash to buy one

Alcatrazz 01-01-2010 06:09 AM

Carl Gustaf Recoiless rifle, while we're fantasizing. That or a sharps.

We're fantasizing? Well I want a FAL, A FN F2000, a Hi-Power, a East German AK, an M249 SAW (for my father, who dearly wants one) and a M1 Abrams :D

Nyles 01-01-2010 07:24 AM

Well, I'm certainly not fantasizing. Fantasizing would be a Webley-Fosberry or a WW1 SMLE sniper rifle.

That said, I'm qualified on the Carl G, and all I can say is "meh".

S&Wshooter 01-01-2010 07:28 AM

Nyles, you need to check out www.collectorsfirearms.com, they might just have what you're looking for

Nyles 01-01-2010 07:34 AM

I'm quite familiar with them, believe me. Can't buy from them, since I'm in Canada, but while they have an impressive selection and slick presentation, frankly alot of their stuff is overpriced.

S&Wshooter 01-01-2010 07:38 AM

Yeah, but they have stuff that is pretty hard to find. Last time I was over there they had a Volcanic lever action pistol and a Johnson M1941. They also have the most C96 Mausers and Les Baer pistols I have ever seen in one place

MT2008 01-01-2010 03:30 PM

AR-15 carbine. Actually, an AR-15 lower, and then I'll probably buy multiple upper receivers, barrels, and stocks so that I can have M4, M16A2, M16A4, and XM177 look-a-likes, depending on my mood. :D But right now, I mostly want an M4 look-a-like.

After that, I probably won't be purchasing anything else for the rest of the year. I'm back in school right now and don't have a job, so I can't afford to buy guns regularly. Ideally, I'd like a 1911 and some type of pistol for conceal-carry, but I'm probably going to wait a while. Plus, I'm half-expecting that I'll have to move to DC after I finish my Master's, since that's where the work in my field is concentrated. In which case, no more guns for me, ever. :(

S&Wshooter 01-01-2010 08:37 PM

I bet there's going to be a recall due to safety issues with all of those pistols Ruger is supposidely going to produce

k9870 01-01-2010 10:01 PM

It looks like the polymer blackhawk 2 is a joke by now, but ruger is counting down to something. The ruger sr-1911 is an idea, but not the early. They still haven't decided what aprks to make and what parts to take from others. The 1911 would be unoriginal though, ruger is known for making cool new stuff, but i see them just cycling into already crowded markets.

I plan on getting my first gun with my tax refund, what do you guys think a Remington 870, a Beretta CX4 Storm, a Yugoslav SKS or a Duckfoot?

Yournamehere 01-12-2010 06:00 AM

Duckfoot. Hands down. No questions.

Seriously though, what do you plan on doing, hunting, plinking, home defense, any combination of those? Don't want any handguns, just long guns? What's the deal?

You might laugh at the Duckfoot but the history and design of that pistol fascinates me. And as far as my criteria for my first gun, it has to
a.Look good
b.shot good
c.use relatively common ammo
d.Legal to own
e.Cheeper than spit
f.while not the most important thing but it helps if it has some military or Hollywood history as well.
edit: oh I almost forgot my weapons will probably be rarely used and when they are it will be used for plinking and zombie defence.

Nyles 01-12-2010 08:26 AM

Out of what you listed, the Yugo SKS is probably the best according to those criteria, and defiantely the best starter rifle. You'll likely have trouble finding a Duckfoot, they're very rare (for obvious reasons they were not overly popular) and it won't be shootable.
