So happy to be done with exams

For those of you in school, is the worst part of the semester over for you yet?

AdAstra2009 12-13-2009 03:03 AM

.............yup

k9870 12-13-2009 04:06 AM

In my experience finals are overrated. There no harder than any other tests during the year, its just taht all the classes have them the same week. I laugh at the people who pull all nighters then get pissed that the test was easy and they diod all that for nothing. I jsut go about like normal and have no problem. School ends the 18th for me.

MT2008 12-13-2009 04:11 AM

In grad school, we have few actual exams, unless you're taking undergrad-level Calc/Stat classes, as I am. My Stat final was tonight, and it was the last thing I had to do for the semester.

But I did have to write a whole bunch of papers. I turned in one that was 50 pages on Monday. I actually kind of miss the days when it was all tests.

Zulu Two Six 12-13-2009 04:13 AM

damn! lucky, i have exams all this week. oh well

k9870 12-13-2009 04:19 AM

Yeah, 50 pages does seem pretty damn intense, my longest ever assighned was 10. Im all tests, and mostly multiple choice, but if i ahd to do 50 page papers id flip.

MT2008 12-13-2009 04:27 AM

It's not quite as bad as it seems. In a typical seminar paper for a social sciences class, the first 10 pages are always introduction and review of the literature by other scholars. Then you have a section where you talk about the methodology you're using (whether qualitative or quantitative). Then you do the analysis, which is basically just describing data or going over case studies. Once you've taken enough classes, it's pretty formulaic, so it doesn't seem that hard. It's just a matter of planning.

But it's still not something I look forward to.

I have to take finals 2 weeks after break, so no, it's not over. At least I'm done with that useless waste of my time known as Comm Apps (aka Speech) and PE, which I didn't really participate in because I pinched a nerve a couple months into school.

Spartan198 12-13-2009 05:25 AM

I hated school... the other kids hated me, the teachers hated me... it was a generally difficult time for me.

S&Wshooter 12-13-2009 05:36 AM

Most teachers love me (I'm really quiet, do my work and don't act like a douche like the other kids) the other kids leave me alone(because I'm quiet and look like I could knock all their teeth out) but I generally dislike my peers because most of them are really stupid and the smart ones have WAAY different interests than me

Excalibur 12-13-2009 05:57 AM

I got all of next week, 4 exams. Criminal Investigations, Spanish, political analysis, and Juvenile Delinquency

Alcatrazz 12-13-2009 02:49 PM

In a month I have: Public Issues World Affairs, then AP european History and Journalism, then Advanced Biology.

Nyles 12-13-2009 03:07 PM

I remember back in university I'd sometimes have my last exam on the 22nd of December, and then be back the first week of January.

Course, now I'm working 14 hour days every day for the next 5 months. Gotta love being a Corporal doing a Lieutenant's job.

I wasn't really all that bad a kid either. I didn't goof off or cause any trouble. I mean, the other kids are one thing (they'll start hating you over what color your shoe laces are), but it confuses the hell out of me as to why the teachers didn't like me.

S&Wshooter 12-14-2009 12:47 AM

They're underpaid, underappreciated and have to deal with those "little bastards" (aka students) all day. Maybe you did something to piss them off without even knowing it

Markost 12-14-2009 03:37 PM

Well, this is the last month of History 1. Two weeks ago i passed Antropology and Pedagogy with a 7, today I have the last Teology exam, this thursday Egypt and Greece exam and, next week, Psichology and Teaching Practices, one day before xmas... Really, i miss school a lot :(

k9870 12-14-2009 03:43 PM

I like college, during High School a lot of people were complete assholes and the school had its dumbass rules. Theyd give you detention for playing with cards even though its not in the rulebook, you couldn't appeal a detention, and your side of the story was never listened to. Some teachers wouldn't even let you see your grade and youd just have to hope to get home and see your report card before parents did......I never got why the school didn't want me to see what I got on MY work. The kids there all fell into your generic sterotypes and were dickheads.

In college people act more mature, teachers treat you better, and you have overall more freedom. Older people in my fmaily say high school was the greatest time of their life, and how it will be ours too. bullshit.

Amen. If anyone ever says that high school was the best part of their life, that usually means that they've had a pretty boring life.

k9870 12-14-2009 03:48 PM

I cant wait to when i graduate in may and go full time in the CG, go do some cool shit like rescues.

Excalibur 12-15-2009 09:44 PM

I'm waiting for an opening position in any of the Police departments in my area. I've already passed their physical and written exams. Once I'm in, I'm a cop.

k9870 12-15-2009 10:15 PM

Still too young to be a cop (19) and even at 20 most departments wont hire, they prefer you be 21. Going full time CG though, can do all the LE i want and 4 years of active duty should help get in a good department when i do go.

One teacher today said anyone with an A in his class doesn't need to take the final, that was cool. Got to go home early.

Zulu Two Six 12-18-2009 04:10 PM

Hot digity damn im done with exams!

Excalibur 12-18-2009 04:40 PM

oo-rah to that

k9870 12-18-2009 07:00 PM

Just finished here myself. Now jsut fill out course evals and wait for grades.

Swordfish941 12-18-2009 11:04 PM

I've finally finished my Finals. Aside from that I've had a helluva week.On Monday I had a band concert (I'm in Varsity Band and I play alto saxophone). In Social Studies, I did an essay on a Supreme Court case. I got Abington School district v. Schempp. I haven't slept in two days because I worked night and day on it. In Composiston, we read short stories that were the basis for Twilight Zone episodes and then viewed them. We read "Nightmare At 2,000 Ft." and "To Serve Men". We didn't get to read the second one because my classmates were being so fucking immature. I have to do a book report in English and I choosed "The Catcher In the Rye". So that's how my week's been.

S&Wshooter 12-19-2009 01:08 AM

I haven't taken finals yet :( but at least I got out early today
