Turn 19 soon...such a pointless age
 

At 18 it was awesome being able to buy guns. And lottery tickets. And cigars. Now all 19 means is 2 years till pistols and alcohol. Too bad, there is nothing to do in yorktown if your underaged anyway. 1/3 of the way to getting all the ahndguns i want the long stretch sucks.

If you have a 21 year old or older guardian with a pistol permit, co-own a handgun with him.

At least you're better off than me, all I can do is drive. And I can't even do that yet. :o

Could be worse, In Maryland you can't own an "Assault Weapon" until you are 21.
I'm 18 and I haven't done anything that I couldn't do at 17 yet.

I'm turning 24 tomorrow. Be grateful you still have some teen years left, because there's not much else to look forward to after 21. Ugh...

At 25 i can look forward to lower car insurance, and by the way GM, we dont need pistol permits, just buy over the counter like any other gun. Problem is, my moms an anti. Im my family's only gun nut. I just shoot my friends pistols or cool people at the range let me shoot theirs.

That sucks. Just remember, life tends to suck no matter what age you are, so make the best of it. :cool:

Around 25 it should be great. By then I plan to have started my LE career.

Do they have a term (like blue balls) for when you haven't shot a gun in a long time? :D

I try to get some trigger time whenever possible, since I can shoot on my yard and don't need to go to a range (although I prefer shooting with friends). Since people live within gun-earshot of me, I stick to .22s or shotguns usually, since they aren't too loud.

Well, now i haven't seen my GF in 6 weeks either...or 7 or what not....damn no guns or....

Man, am i making this depressing. An VA members here, all my guns are 712 miles north of me back home lol.

The next two years will go fast. It seems like just yesterday I was turning 19. Now in couple weeks I'll be turning 23. Problem is, if it's anything like me, once you turn 21 you will have more guns on your list to buy then you can afford.

When i get back home though, just found out today, my friend has a new ak to play with:D

When it comes to gun sales, I live under a rock. I haven't been to a store to buy ammo ever. My dad orders ammo from Jerry's Sports Center, and has huge stock piles of ammo handy, so I haven't actually noticed a scarcity of ammo. The prices in Jerrys has risen somewhat though.

And my dad rarely buys guns from stores. He usually buys them from other people.

But to be honest, nothing is more fun than walking through a gunshop like a kid in a candy store.

Well, my friend actually has an Norinco sks-d sporter, 1 30 round, one 5 ronder, and a bipod. Its got the stock that looks like the saiga skeleton one where the pg is part of the stock. Sounds like a fun shooter, cant wait to go try it out.

Do you mean the Dragunov-style stock? I shot an SKS once with one of those and it throws off the original sight alignment because you have to lower your head more to rest your cheek properly. So the sights had to be adjusted so it would hit something.

Yep, its draganov style. Hes thinking of tapcoing though. He got this one because it was cheap.

I think it's kind of cool that my dad just got a new gun in the shop to sell.

I think the ruger sr556 looks like one hell of an ar, 1500 bucks and it has all those accessories. A bare bones S&W M&P costthe same.

I especially like the Monogrip® pistol grip. As opposed to the many two-handed pistol grips you find on assault rifles.

Buy a Springfield M1A. Seems like your kind of long gun. Price range for a good one is from $1000-$2000 depending on variant. This is of course a choice when money is no factor, which usually isn't the case. :D

All the m1as are around 1500 and i se emags going for 70. I would LOVE to have one when price gougers stop screwing us and make a reasonable offer. My friends dad was a GMC in the navy and expert on the m14, im sure he could teach me a thing or two.

If an M14 is too expensive, find a fair priced M1 Garand. They too are great guns. I got mine for an excellent price of ~$600, even though it's worth about $1200. :D Excellent guns to shoot too.

I'd offer more suggestions, but my mind has been slighted more towards handguns than long guns. And your not 21 yet. Can you co-own with anyone?

My moms an anti, so i cant get my own. I can look for a private sale (completely legal in maine as long as 18 and no criminalpast) but then theresa limitedselection and Id only buy from people i know.A CMP garand is always a solid gun.

You guys are bitching about How you have to wait to be 21 or 18 to buy guns? Let me tell you, Here in Brazil, guns for civilian use were abolished back in the 1990s. Not only that, but when you turn 18 you get drafted to the Military to serve. So, if some dumbshit like Chavez decides it would be fun to attack Brazil, all 18 year olds and able bodied men will get sent to the Meat Grinder called War. Maybe some women too. You guys now only need to buy guns when you are 21 and not needing to worry about getting your balls blown off. Be happy about that.

Yeah, I've heard a lot about how much Brazil's gun laws suck. Is gun use really "abolished", though? I've heard some types of weapons can still be owned with a permit, but I don't stay current, and I'm sure things have changed since I last did any reading.

I do know how heavily armed Brazil's drug gangs are, though. I remember watching the documentary "Lessons from a Personal War" (which is a bonus feature on the "City of God" DVD), and they have gang members showing off weapons, and also a police depot for confiscated weapons. I remember seeing full-auto AK-47s and M16s, plus things like RPGs and grenades, the same kind of armament that the cartels in Mexico have been using. And this was back in the 1990s that this documentary was made...

The Guns the Brazilian Gangs use come mostly from Bolivia. Most drugs come from Bolivia also. What is funny about Bolivian drugs, is that Bolivian drug dealers don't sell them here in Brazil. They come here to export them to European Countries and to the United States since Bolivia is a Landlocked country.

Anyway, most Gangs today use old as shit FN FALs. Metric ones, mostly from corrupt Bolivian Army personnel. Most AKMs, Type 56s, AK-74s, Even Galils and AR-15 type guns come from Bolivia. On the other hand, the Military Police is more well armed than the Gangs. Hell, BOPE alone are more well armed than the fucking Brazilian Army:

Yeah, the BOPE is considered one of the most experienced urban combat units in the world, due to the nature of what they do. A lot of the tactics they pioneered have long since been adopted in Mexico, and many other Latin American countries dealing with heavily armed drug dealers.

I remember in "News from a Personal War", a BOPE officer was showing off an HK21 light machine gun, which is a weapon they've deployed on several occasions (HKPRO also has a photo of one of them with this gun). He pointed out that it's not a weapon that any American or European SWAT unit would ever use.

Whenever I play Rainbow, I find it's easier to work alone. Maybe they should have one man SWAT teams. As long as they are armed with a vast arsenal of H&K guns and a ridiculous amount of spare magazines. :D
