X-Men Origins: Wolverine (BIG POST)
Okay, my mom got her hands on a decent quality bootleg of X-Men Origins: Wolverine from a friend at work, and since I refuse to upload bootleg caps on the site, I figured I'd post some on here. Now, I hate bootlegs and usually stay away from them, but I just had to check this out. I confirmed some things we would have had to wait some time to figure out and I found a few missed guns. Since the dumb 4-pics for post rule is in effect, gimme a minute to put all 30-some pics in 8 or so posts. So, wait until I say "DONE" before posting a comment so all the pics can be in a row. Also, I plan to buy this on DVD when it comes out, so don't think I'm screwing all the movie makers, like armorers, I didn't even buy this bootleg. Anyway, here's the pics.

I discovered there is no MG42 seen during this scene. Next reel... |

^Sabertooth fires an MG34 on now unarmed Germans as they try to run away. http://i40.tinypic.com/dr59xs.jpg ^For a brief second we have an anachronism as Sabertooth uses an M60 machine gun to fire on the German, because it then cuts to him firing the M60 from a chopper in Vietnam. http://i41.tinypic.com/awf0p5.jpg ^Wolverine with his Colt M733. This is a full shot I couldn't grab from the trailer. http://i42.tinypic.com/2drgadh.jpg ^Sabertooth kills a soldier armed with an M1911A1. Next reel... |

^Wolverine holds back a soldier armed with an M16A1 (muddy or camo?). After seeing all the rifles in the scene, I saw no XM16E1, which ends my suspicions. http://i40.tinypic.com/20kpvo5.jpg ^Sabertooth has an M1911A1 in his holster. http://i39.tinypic.com/5pfxqs.jpg ^A soldier aiming an M14 rifle. Totally missed this in the theaters. http://i43.tinypic.com/rc7dsi.jpg ^African soldiers aim Norinco Type 56s out bunker slots. I only could spot AKMs in the theater. They also reverse this shot and reuse it. Next reel... |

He has a second pair in his shoulder holster. http://i41.tinypic.com/68re3o.jpg ^An African soldier fires a DShK (or DShKM, I don't know), I forgot about this. http://i41.tinypic.com/2lcsbd5.jpg ^The soldier fires the DShK. http://i41.tinypic.com/30kvihu.jpg ^A soldier armed with an AKMS. While originally we could only assume it was a Beretta and not a Taurus based on a promotional image, this proves it is a Beretta, note the slide-mounted decocker. Next reel... |

^Wolverine briefly uses a Browning M2HB on a Humvee to shoot at the helicopter. http://i44.tinypic.com/34rvuci.jpg ^Col. Striker flashes his M1911A1 in his shoulder holster to intimidate Silver Fox. http://i39.tinypic.com/2u9oc3r.jpg ^Men at the Island fire AKMs at Emma Frost. In theaters I couldn't ID these at all. http://i44.tinypic.com/dnlhxc.jpg ^M&P soldiers arrest Striker, armed with M16s. They look like A2s, or A1s with A2 handguards. Both would be anachronistic to 1979. The gun ontop the vehicle looks like an M2HB. And now the best for last... |
The Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum that fires Adimantium bullets. Used by Col. Striker.

DONE. Whooh, big post. I'm going to sleep, it's 6:00 in the morning. Again, sorry to use bootlegs. I payed to watch this in theaters and I plan to pay to buy the actual DVD, so the money still goes to help the movie makers. |
You know what's ironic? Hugh Jackman is in my town right now, with Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman (I saw a cell-phone pic of them hanging out in the town's "Pete's Famous" restaraunt). God knows what would attract them to this horrible place. :P
|
That's just another Gewehr 98 in your second picture. Kar 98a doesn't have the lange sight, has a handguard all the way to the muzzle cap, and very little exposed barrel.
|
Okay, thanks. I wasn't sure, but these caps really helped out.
One last thing about actors in my town. Liev Schreiber was seen by one of my mom's friends in a bar last night. Apparently he's still here. Seriously, why would anyone willingly come here (they do in fall for leaves, but in SUMMER (??)) |

Anyone know why the G36K was chosen for that scene? The film makers obviously tried to be accurate with the guns used in the War scenes at the beginning, except maybe with the Colt Model 733, but to have the G36K in a scene which takes place in the 1970s doesn't quite make sense.

Its a movie about a mutant with blades coming out of his hands.....I think a G36 in the 70s is very forgiveable.

Also, I mentioned in the caption for the M60 image that it transitions to him firing from the helicopter, so it is only BRIEFLY an anachronism. |
Yeah the AG36 has that boxy look when observed from the right side.
http://www.arthi.de/fire/g36/sa80_ag36_big.jpg I don't think the color is a big deal and it could also be a mock up of the AG36 which is why it might be off. P.S. I'd be careful about posting bootlegs, they have FBI warnings for a reason. |
Yeah I know, I only did it for ID confirmations, I refuse to put them on the main site. I'll wait for the REAL DVD to come out.
|
Well if the studio finds this place, know that we are not doing this for profit. This is for firearms identification and debate. If they have a real problem with this, then the bootleg images would be removed. Studios that owns the rights can be so sensitive sometimes.
Anyway, I another anachronism about the Vietnam flashback is that all the M16s or at least one was seen with the 30 round magazines which wasn't in service at the time. The G36 now that I remember what year it is, is CLEARLY something that shouldn't be there. I guess the director fucked that part up. I can forgive the M733 cause it happened in previous movies, but a G36K with the AG36. That is just stupid. It's like giving a guy in a 20s gangster movie an MP5 instead of a tommy Quote:
And saying this is a movie about mutants so we should ignore firearms mistake is just an excuse not to think. The people behind the X-Men movies wanted to put the comics in a world like ours without fancy laser guns and give the characters with guns REAL guns. So don't use the bad excuse that this is a sci-fi movie to say we should forgive the gun problems. |
Whats the release date for dvd?
|
You guys DO know that the pre-release bootleg of X-Men Origins: Wolverine has the studio lawyers ALL PISSED OFF. And they're going after ANYONE who is posting or sharing or distributing any part of it in any way.
To have a copy of this bootleg which was NOT supposed to be released will not engender good will with the studios. |
I wasn't happy my mom brought it home, but I figured I'd clear up the gun issues here since some people were having IDing problems. Since the forum topic would eventually fade, I figured it wouldn't piss off too many people.
If it is truly a big deal, I'll remove all the images from the forum, but I only did it to assist IMFDb's IDing. I wouldn't even upload them on the main site, and took a good four hours just putting the images here, because tinypic.com is so damn slow with screencaps. In fact, this German dude (Lisle212) posted bootlegs for the movie on the main site, and I took the time to delete all of them even though I was busy. And to all the corporate dudes I may have offended, I apoligize in full for being a collosal dick-head and uploading bootleg images. To make up for it, I've given myself twenty lashes and will wear the super-tight leg brace to bed tonight. ;) |
I want to see this movie, whens it out on dvd?
