Favorite Gun Pic Thread
Well, this is my favorite due to the fun it brings, I can shoot it all day and knock over shotgun shells at 50 yards just for fn. Its dead on accurate and eats anything i feed it. I love bringing out a friends centerfire, but seriously, Ican afford to shoot very long. Anyone (who hasn't read my profile) care to gess what it is? BTW, sad day, last time I get to shoot for the next........3 months!
And of course, post yours:) WTF! Pic didnt attach....BRB Ill try again Sorry guys, only have this link, hope itll do EDIT by Gunmaster45: http://i42.tinypic.com/m7fa4h.jpg Using my admin powers to add the image. ;) |
My first plinker was a Remington Model 521 .22 long rifle bolt action. I had Lyman peep sights and could hit cans off a post all day, but now I've moved on to bigger and badder guns. I prefer target shooting with my super-duper custom Ruger 10/22 with a very large scope magnification, yardage adjustablility, and the ability to shoot a one-hole at 50 yards if the shooter is steady. I brought it to a .22 shooting match once and brought everyone to shame by shooting the paintballs off the posts as well as the golf balls and thumb tacks. That was a fun day...

My favorite rifle (that I personally own) is my Bushmaster AR-15. Say whatever you want about the AR. I know there are plenty of haters out there, but the ability to put rapid and accurate shots wherever I want, makes this my favorite rifle. It has also been 100% reliable. My AK-47 is really fun too but I gotta give the edge to the AR. The remainder of my rifles are fun as well but AR and AK are the top 2.
As far as pistols go, I have a much harder time deciding because I shoot them all a lot and they all fill different niches. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...n/DSC00190.jpg |
I'm getting a Bushmaster too! I haven't gotten to shoot it yet but it seems pretty awesome. But .223s are SO loud people in China call to complain. You can't shoot a gun like that as often as a .22 or even a 12 Gauge, (which I shoot both often) because it is about ten times louder. Same with 7.62x39mm rounds. I shot an SKS and I could hear the echo through my earmuffs.
I remember I fired three rounds from an AR-15 on a firing range once without ear plugs and it took me ten seconds before I could hear more than ringing. BTW, I'll grab a shot of the M4A3 when I put the original forend back on and of course, purchase it (it's sitting at my grandparents house right now as my dad and the guy work it out. |
I shoot mostly at an indoor range which makes it even louder. I wear earplugs and earmuffs over them. Works great. I also have a cabin I shoot at but I don't have any close neighbors to worry about noise.
|
223 never bothered me, but ive never taken my earmuffs off. The loudest ive had is when recoil knocked my hearing roection off and i was firing my friends shotgun.

Here's three shots of "Gladys" with a wooden stock, 16" barrel, and a 15 round magazine. The gun is too long for one shot, so that's why I need to use three.

Didnt know they make a long barrel for an 1911

Check this out, its beautiful!!!!!!!!!
http://www.nationalfirearmsmuseum.or...phics/8698.jpg I thought only the C96 had the "red 9" grips not my gun though............I wish |

HOLY CRAP.
That looks intense GM, but is it hard to shoot with the massive barrel? I mean, you can't hold onto it or anything. Seems like it may have Mac-10 syndrome(no place for second hand). AdAstra: I would like any luger, but that one in particular looks pretty good. The photography may have something to do with it. |
It's no harder to shoot than any other carbine. You just have to layer your hands on the grip instead of resting the weak hand on a foregrip, which the gun lacks.

Well, it's not one I own, but when I saw the M4A1 Custom in Metal Gear Solid 4, I've been twice an AR fanboy than I was before. :D And it even provided the visual basis for the fictional M5 gas-piston carbine I created for a military story. |
This is an original Colt Single Action Army 5.5" Artillery from 1875 with Vulcanite grips, pretty much no finish (but it still looks nice) and "E.E." carved on the butt, indicated the original owners initials. The hammer spring is snapped but it will eventually be replaced by another original so the hammer at least cocks properly. (In this image the gun still had a working hammer spring BTW)
Note the beaten up butt, indicating the owner was a working man who would pound nails in with it, because apparently a hammer isn't good enough. http://i43.tinypic.com/2eehgfb.jpg |
What, nothing? :(

Winchester 1906
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/IM002766.jpg |
My dad has one of those out in the shop, along with about 4 more slide-action .22s that look identical but are made by different manufacturers.
None-the-less a nice gun. Here's two wheel-guns: A stainless steel Ruger Super Redhawk with a 9.5" barrel. It is currently fitted with a 4x Nikon scope, but I found it cumbersome at the time and it made the gun all to delicate feeling. http://i40.tinypic.com/15hy2ia.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/2q2ih45.jpg (btw, the DVD seen in the second shot is "Unfaithful", hell if I know why it was in my room, I never watched it or intended to ) And this is a Smith & Wesson Model 14, more specifically a K-14 Masterpiece, which I believe is one of the nicest guns S&W ever made. The trigger pull on double and single are incredible. If only the gun was in stainless steel, so I wouldn't have to deal with the basterdous (I don't care if that's not a word, I use it a lot) bluing which smudges and rusts easily. It's fitted with Pachmyr Presentation grips, although I think the wooden grips would make it look better. http://i39.tinypic.com/21ox1tt.jpg |
Nice shots.
And admit it - you were watching for Diane Lane's boobs. :D |

The Model 19 is nice, but can you show some better shots of the 1911 and 5906?
|
Not much a fave, but worth showing:

Anyways I think I'm gonna buy a Mossberg 590 and do this to it: http://www.popguns.com/images/shotgun/tacstar45.jpg |
Good choice, a friend of mine has a similar configuration to this shotgun, but without either light. He does however have the saddle on the side
|
I consider it an awful configuaration. I never understood the vertical (foregrip?) on a pump gun, its bad enought to fire without a stock.
|
If I recall correctly they had that configuration on Ghost Ship, Duke Nukem, and Equilibrium.

Have you ever fired a shotgun with a vertical grip? It's awesome. Takes out a lot of the recoil and without the stock makes it pretty good in close quarters. But I prefer a stock, at least the telescopic one, but my pal doesn't want the stock on his

IF I may correct myself....Pistol Grip ONLY shotguns are trluy awful. A stock/PG is okay. I find standard to be more confortable but a PG stock is also nice. PGO, well, lets say I like aiming my guns. The vertical foregrip doesn't work for me in any configuration, the angle feels awkward. My house I can manuver my 870 w/ 20'' barrel and regular stock just fine, with plenty of control.
