Linking to a certain part of a page

Having trouble linking SA TRP to the Springfield armory section of the 1911 page. Wondering how to do this? Also, should I make the TRP separate? I see a ton of colt types?

Also wondering, should I add a generic "Ar-15" to the m16 page for civilian copies?

First off we need to find a new picture because the one you put on the page is WAY too small. I'll check it out and fix it up.

How do you resize though? I can go to the SA site and see what i can find for pics.

Never mind, you did it. How can i link the TRP link from my Criminal minds page dirtectly to the TRP part of the 1911 page? I keep getting errors. I know its possible, the p226 link goes directly to that part of the 220 series page.

BTW, what should I do about generic AR-15s? Make a new part of the m16 section? And just for fture reference, whats the easiest way to increase pic size?

Gunmaster45 05-28-2009 03:18 AM

I'll fix it. I'll do the cool redirect thing so all you'll have to write on Criminal Minds is "Springfield Armory TRP".

As for resizing, I don't know your system in which you edit images, so you have to figure it out. Mainly pic images that don't need to be increased in size.

Also, when you take screencaps, you may only crop the widescreen bars or excessive space (like with website videos). If you crop the image down to just the person and the gun, the images are inconsistant in size and don't look professional.

I tried to link it but all i got was errors, i even pasted right from area i was trying to link to.

Gunmaster45 05-28-2009 07:53 PM

I got pulled from the computer before I could do it, so it's no surprise it didn't work. I'll do all of it for you, okay?

k9870 05-28-2009 07:55 PM

Thanks, can you tell me how you finally get it to work? Things like the glock series and sigs link right to it.

Gunmaster45 05-28-2009 07:57 PM

Just make sure you write it with 100% proper grammer and spelling. If you write [[glock 17]] it won't work, you have to write [[Glock 17]]. If you don't write the link properly (meaning it has to be exactly the same as the name of where it goes) then it will be a dead/red link.

k9870 05-28-2009 08:00 PM

I copied and pasted right fro the section of the page.

Gunmaster45 05-28-2009 08:03 PM

I'm modifying the page a tad, the links should not be in the titles of the sections but in the descriptions.

Oh, and 300px is WAY too small for screencaps. 500px is the norm.

I replaced your Model 65 image with a better one. If at first the image looks really pixelated and screwed up, don't worry, it goes away. The image I picked is bigger and has a white background.

k9870 05-28-2009 08:12 PM

okay, ill remeber that in the future. BTW, do youu mind if I add "
ar-15 (generic) to the m16 page, theres an option for colt on there but as we know just about everyone makes them and its hard to tell. I dont know where to put civilian models.

Gunmaster45 05-28-2009 08:14 PM

I don't think it is neccessary, since most movies don't use any civie ARs other than Colts. I don't believe I've ever seen a movie with a Bushmaster or anything else in it.

Just a hint, don't do what I'm doing on Criminal Minds to other pages. I'm moving some images to the left and putting them side by side. I'm doing this because of the uneven length of the images, which looks better when the pics are put together. I have to add <BR> spaces afterwards, so I reccomend you avoid using it unless you understand how. Usually it isn't even required unless the images are uneven.

k9870 05-28-2009 08:18 PM

Its hard to tell for me, they all look the same unless you can find the logo. IIm sure something besides colts been used.

Gunmaster45 05-28-2009 08:50 PM

I don't think it is the biggest priority though since they are seldom seen, if ever in films.

I wanted to point one more thing out to you. When you save images, make sure they are unique enough that no one else will ever accidentally over write it.

For instance you named one of your images "Image:G26.jpg". This is a very common name for someone else to name an image of a G26 when saving it to upload. You should make the image name slightly more organized by adding an abbreviation or acronym of the film/show. For instance, naming it "Image:CMG26-1.jpg" would personalize it to the Criminal Minds page and also organize multiple pictures. You can also use the alphabet instead of letters like "Image:CM-G26-A.jpg".

I'm a little more concerned about your grammar and spelling. I've told you before - you can't be so careless. If you really can't spell "Beretta" properly, then please just copy and paste text from another page.
