Trolls on the database
 

What should we users do about suspected trolls on the database? I know that we should report them and ignore them. Outside of that I'm not sure what to do as we currently have what is IMO a troll on the discussion page for the admin list. their very first post on the forum was to call the admins corrupt and that they banned people for no reason. Now for someone's very first post they are either a sockpuppet of a banned user or they are a troll. Either way they should be banned IMO.

Abusive multiple accounts or creating a new profile just to circumvent one's banishment, is already in the rules as cause for banning. :) The thing I find funny is the moviemaster1993 is so consistently stupid in his 'covert ops' against IMFDB. When the first post of a newbie user is to attack the mods as being corrupt and to bitch about us not finishing the Transformers 3 page to their liking .... it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out who they are. Off to the ban hammer he goes. :D

Any luck on getting him to stop using your images on his wiki?

So when's he getting an IP ban? (Unless he's already on one :P)

An IP ban is easy to circumvent, though. I've found a few programs that enable surfing via fake IP addresses (one of which I plan to hopefully buy a subscription to come September, if I can afford it, since the more nefarious individuals out there can do a whole hell of a lot to you with just your IP address) and there are also proxy websites that you can use to surf under fake IP addresses. Someone can also just as easily go down to the local library and use a computer there.

Not that the mods shouldn't ban every IP address that trolls like POI an MM93 show up under, though. Just saying.

Yet another one of moviemaster's troll accounts is spamming all of the user pages about MPM2008 again.

Well thanks funkychinaman, I saw that you worked overtime trying to undo his BS. And thanks predator20, for banning his worthless ass. I wonder though, I think LIAM aka moviemaster1993 has been banned by HALF of the mods already under different aliases. He must sure hate ME though... :D But I only banned him twice. I think he was targeting Excalibur early on, but I'm not sure.

This guy sure has no life doesn't he? :D For the record, even before he was banned, he copped a serious attitude for a noob. That put him on the Mod's radar, so when he did something blatantly illegal, the banhammer was swift and immediate.

Are there any other Brits on IMFDB? Or is Liam the only one? Just curious.

That wiki is really hard to navigate. Who designed the interface? A monkey? Where is all this admin hate? I can't even find a relevant page that has more than a few screencaps on it. :confused:

I'm pretty sure Nazi Fishwife is our stupid friend again, given his sparkling wit and dazzling command of the English language (he's not a gun fan either, he's "normal" you see) and tendency to remove comments criticising him (the same as Moviemaster did on the Golden Gun page, if you recall). If not, it's not like anything of value will be lost by banning him.

Sock puppet or not, that last rant alone probably should've earned him a ban.

I especially like how he replicates Moviemaster's tendency to wave people's names around like he's somehow discovered secret knowledge about them rather than, say, because he's looked at their user page. I bet he thinks people will be scared he's some sort of secret agent who KNOWS THEIR EVERY MOVE. :rolleyes:

The irony is that we already know his real name. The very reason he was banned in the first place was because of that facebook fan page he made.

No we banned him because he was a jerk and he was uploading things that could have gotten us sued by the studios. This site existis because of some narrow fair use margins of Copyright laws. If the Studios say that we can't have images be it behind the scenes or of a firearm before the film comes out then we can't keep the image up. Moviemaster likes to ignore copyrights and pretend it doesn't matter. Hopefully the provider of the Wiki software he's useing gets lots of messages that Moviemaster is useing their stuff without permission and nukes the site.

Sorta. He posted photos and a link to what claimed to be the "official" Facebook page for Transformers: Dark of the Moon as the source. It turned out that said "official" page was actually set up by him, and was a bunch of leaked on-set photos he'd found using Google Image Search. When it was pointed out that this was illegal, he got an attitude about it, and so he was banned. The fake Facebook account was part of why he was banned.

I know. That's what I meant. The Facebook page was his justification.

He's gone. I'm pretty sure I was thinking of banning him a week or two ago.

So we're on some sort of list of "the Top TEN worst Wikis" (he claims we're in spot number 2). Where is this TOP TEN LIST? :confused: I want to know. I want to see it. Either that or he's just spouting juvenile nonsense again. :):D

He's gotta be bullshitting. No list of any sort turned up in Google searches.

Yeah, I am getting really tired of his crap. I seriously hope I'm on the next time he makes another account because I really want to block him myself and tell him off. Trying to annoy us into making us giving him adminstrator, how pathetic. Why dosen't he just get over it and stay on his own crappy wiki. Thanks for undoing his work, Ben41, you do your job well.

Although since we have british members and Fans we might not want to do that.

Though we normally don't broadcast crap like Liam's idiocy, I thought IMFDB's regular membership should realize what a loon he is. We need to remember what he does so that people aren't under the impression that we're being mean to him when we summarilyi ban him whenever we see evidence of yet another attack on IMFDB.

What do you mean? IPs change all the time. As Bunni has pointed out, MY ACCOUNT has a rotating IP address, so my IP changes ALL the time. So IP bans wouldn't even work on me, that is if you guys ever decided to ban me :D which I don't think you would do since I would do anything to merit such an action :D

When you ban a user this is selected "Automatically block the last IP address used by this user, and any subsequent IP addresses they try to edit from"

Nice to see you as well, MoviePropMaster. And yeah, I'm not the most active person when it comes to forums, I would really like to get my account kick started here, but I never got around to it. Also, I would never leave Imfdb, even though I don't edit as much anymore due to the superior quality of screencaps and work from great users such as Ben41, I still watch over the site every day on and off.

So he's like jock itch then. treat him when he appears and then hope he doesn't come back.

Lol exactly, We'll just keep banning him, He'll have to give up on his tirade eventually. I really don't get what he hopes to accomplish, you would think he would be tending to his wiki trying to make it better then us, which I don't think will happen anytime soon if ever.

Like I said, it could be his buddy Adam aka Pinko as well.

I checked out the list of alias' he conveniently provided the other night and something jumped out. I don't think anyone had suspected "Julio" of being one of his sock puppets until this weekend. If you look at Julio's contributions, it's just spam.

(BTW, we should've allowed "Transformers 3 sucks" to stay. ;))
