Graphic Novel I'm Making (pics)

For my English course on Graphic Novels, my final project is to make my own graphic novel. I only have the first page done so far (takes a good day to make one). Let me know what you guys think, or if you have any suggestions.

And yes, it's filled with guns and noir, how I like it.

Looks good. Is that a Mark 23?

It looks like some kind of Glock

Yeah, it's a Glock. I didn't have the time to get a good picture of a gun for reference so I drew a Glock because they're pretty simple to draw, and I have enough memory of the design to draw it well.

A big shootout is coming up so I'll have a for more guns in, and I'll do my best to draw them well.

If you're open to technical critiques of your art, I'd like to point out that your Glock is gigantic.

What if that guy is like 5'2 and the Glock is the largest model they make?

I suck with scale, I know. haha

Criticism-wise, you seem a little too worried about having empty space in your panels; you've crammed the sky with stars and the guy's jacket with creases, and the result looks weird. Less is more, as they say.

When I originally drew it, the lack of color made it very empty looking, and I kept impulsively adding more creases and detail. Once I colored it in, it ended up being unecessary. As for the stars, I wasn't sure where and how many to lay out, so I just went crazy on the sky and hoped it'd look good.

A fellow classmate is making a graphic novel using this really expensive comic making program. I showed him and the teacher the page printed out and they asked me if I too was using it. I was like, "Hard work and photoshop, bitches."

Heh, reminds me of a picture on videogame character design: it's called "Character detail: the slippery slope."

Just got page two done. Deciding on how to color the room wasn't working well, looks like drunken water-coloring IMO. Did a smidge better with the scaling though.

Next page, the light and TV get shot, so it's all Sin City-stlye black and white.

Is the weaponry identifiable to people?

I spy with my little eye: An AK varient, a MAC-10, and possibly a Mosberg shotgun.

BTW, the main character in your second page looks like Gordon Freeman from Half Life.

I kind of based him on what I looked like before I got a haircut, and aged him more to look like my dad. Then I gave him the Josey Wales-esque scar under his right eye.

It's an AKMS (I made the folding stock too thin), indeed a MAC-10, and A Serbu Super Shorty 9 (I gave it a genuine Mossy receiver, I like them better than Mavericks), but since it's a receiver only shot you can't see the short barrel.

They are all common "bad guy" guns, and IMFDb has lots of shots of thugs firing them, so I figured it's make it easier to find images to base the drawings on.

Page 3 is gonna be a bitch and a half to draw. Looking forward to drawing the ending though. :D

I got page three and four drawn up, but until I get Corel Paintshop Pro reinstalled on my new computer I just got, I can't work with them.

So in the mean time, enjoy one of my old strips I made two years ago:

I was going to make the Desert Eagle jam originally, but I was pressed for time so I omitted it. Thought the DE was a good stereotypical weapon for the villian. I wanted him to have a revolver originally, but it was easier to draw the DE from memory.
