Top shot season 2

Just started, Two challenges without practice, we had a sharps rifle, colt 1991, and a smith 44 mag. Cast seems diverse, I think its funny theres all these national champions and team captains who won first round are a golfer and a hunter.

The guy who got eliminated was a tool. "im the best shooter in the world?" Did he really say that. Cocky too.

I've been watching the first season and during the first episode, there were some bits of details when the host described the rifles used. He said the SVT-40 was one of the world's first semi-auto rifles. Apparently whoever wrote his script forgot about the Garand and previous semi-autos. He also said the Springfield 03 had the longest service life of all the rifles in the bunch even though the Mosin-Nagant had a longer life in service.

One of the contestants had the strangest descriptions of the bunch. I assume they listed current occupation and then a secondary occupation but this guy, I forgot his name had under him US Army and then under that Former Marine? I need to do some research, because that doesn't sound right at all. I mean half of the contestants have listed "Current occupation" and then "Former Marine" under all of them. But this US Army and then Former Marine kinda throws me off.

He might have transferred to the National Guard or Army Reserves after his time as marine.

Excalibur 02-16-2011 03:40 AM

National Guard maybe, but Army Reserves no. The Marines have a Reserve as well. Half the Marines I know are in the Reserves.

k9870 02-16-2011 03:48 PM

why did so many of them shoot DA instead of SA? And seriously, why only 2 paintball hits?

mpe2010 02-16-2011 11:23 PM

I was surprised at how many couldnt hit the closest target but could hit the farther two just fine.

k9870 02-24-2011 07:36 PM

Now Jay Really pisses me off, Ive got somebody to hate on now. The guy was getting mad at a Former SEAL for telling him to stop using the teacup grip and to keep his finger off the trigger, and he was like "stop telling me how to shoot" then he tried to sight his teams rifle in for himself, when they were all on target and he was hsooting poorly, couldnt blae it on his poor skills, and he wouldnt listen to the revovler instructor either, even though he clearly didnt know how to shoot it....

k9870 03-02-2011 10:34 PM

Damn Maggies gone, I thought she would do well with the three gun background seeing everybody else seems specialized and not as well rounded.

Yournamehere 03-02-2011 11:15 PM

I hate when people get knocked out because of game dynamic (Jermaine) or because they are at an inherent disadvantage that they generally can't overcome (both women). Holding and shooting a heavy ass Thompson and drawing a bow and arrow require not only technique, but physical strength, and not to say the women didn't have that, but they certainly were at no advantage going against men who were just generally stronger. You might argue that if they were any good, they wouldn't get to the elimination challenge and be at said disadvantage, but Maggie went to the bow and arrow elimination challenge because she sucked with... a bow and arrow. Kind of silly. Athena is less excusable since she is a pistol shooter, but people like her are not trained with EVERY pistol ever, probably just their custom race gun (apparently she uses a 1911 based race gun) or whatever the hell they use. If you are the World Champion with that, it doesn't mean you are any good with anything else, especially the polar opposite gun which is a double action revolver.

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the show, I just understand a few things that take away from it's impact, annoy me, or both. Jay Lim is kind of a bitch though.

k9870 03-02-2011 11:18 PM

Jay just was not being a team player, and disrespected the instructor last week, Athena performed poorly, but maggie did good up until the bow, and seemed confident with rifle and pistol, unlike others who seemed very one or the other.

Yournamehere 03-02-2011 11:26 PM

I understood Jay's logic in not changing his grip, so I don't have a gripe with that, but my problem with him is he still thinks (or thought, I think the drama is over now) that he was the team captain, and needed to assume some kind of leadership role. Not only did he not need to do that, but he isn't even equipped to do that. He has barely any prior knowledge of the sport, nor does he know anything outside his techniques. His inner golf instructor seems to get the better of him, and in this instance he's not the person that should be instructing.

k9870 03-03-2011 12:00 AM

Grip is one thing, but it was almost like he was pissed that instructor was telling him to change (he did this with the revovler too) and wasn't open to learning, then he wanted to change the sights on the team rifle for himsel when everybody else was doing fine. He also had his finger on trigger changing positions, and I just plain dont like his attitude.

k9870 03-09-2011 03:31 PM

What is it with Jay Disrespecting everyone and refusing to even try and learn anything.

He has a severe case of "being an asshole"

k9870 03-09-2011 08:17 PM

Yeah, i can understand somewhat not changing his (awful) grip, but guests try to show him something, hell even teammates, and he just says "no ill do it my way." Yesterday, one teamamte said "let me show you a little thing that may help you" and he told him to go away. Then they interview him and he acts like hes top dog.

Is he any good? Good enough to keep his teammates from kicking his ass out of the show?

k9870 03-09-2011 08:36 PM

he won an elimination challenge in an upset and the other team was picked for elimination this time.

mpe2010 03-09-2011 09:41 PM

Jay wasn't too bad with the bow except that he took 30 seconds longer than everyone else to shoot.

k9870 03-09-2011 09:47 PM

Jays an archer so its expected he does good in his event, hes not a team player, rude, and abnoxious though.

mpe2010 03-11-2011 08:10 PM

George is now starting to annoy me. He whines a lot, he said his team mates "suck at life" behind their backs, and he made alliances with other people on his team to not vote for each other in elimination.

k9870 03-11-2011 10:34 PM

He seems like a jersey shore wannabe and makes stupid comments like "nothing personal, I just dont know your shooting background, being navy and all."

Like being in the navy makes you suck, I get the inter service rivalry but comments like that are arrogant as hell. I cant believe nobody else is sick o his BS

mpe2010 03-12-2011 05:06 AM

The teams would be much better if Jay and George got eliminated.

Jcordell 03-12-2011 03:30 PM

I'm waiting for when they show the marathon of the whole season in the summer. Then I'll just tape it and watch it on my own time.

One of the few things still on thats tolerable. Especially if I can fast forward through all the silly ass "reality" television dramatics and get to the actual competitons.

k9870 03-30-2011 01:15 PM

Wow Jay is still here.....Oh well next week hell fail epically when they bring out the barrett m82.

I saw in future challenges, pistol while being lowered in a harness, trap from moving trucks, theres a garand, a hi power MKIII, and ar-15, and what looked like the hk33 coming back.

Hey, it beat a lifelong Marine and got him through like 4 eliminations.

k9870 03-30-2011 05:30 PM

Its that he stays cool under pressure, which helps him win elimination challenges. His skill is lacking in team challenges.

mpe2010 04-06-2011 03:12 AM

Damn every word that George said on todays episode annoyed me. He was real douchy and bragged about his sniper skills and he didnt even get the best time. I want to see Jamie kick his ass on next weeks episode.:D

k9870 04-07-2011 01:04 AM

Why does george hate jamie so much? And yeah, george was a douche "okay, you beat me, but i got no respect for you." Then at the end "Okay you won but fuck you." Whats with that? Thats not professional wt all, then he did call daryl a douchbag a few weeks ago.

mpe2010 04-07-2011 01:12 AM

According to an episode several weeks ago, he hates jamie because he is "shady" and wont tell him what he does in the navy.

k9870 04-07-2011 01:27 AM

he said hes a rescue swimmer, and george seems to like really really hate him, bad.

mpe2010 04-07-2011 01:49 AM

George's alliance with those other guys is really pissing me off too. Joe wanted to go to elimination and nobody voted for him.

k9870 04-07-2011 10:30 AM

Joe manned up, and nobody else seemed to care, its a popularity contest now. they used to vote based on performance. And i know george thinks jamie's shady, but he seems to hate him too much, rather george is just the much of a dbag or we dont have whole story, both are likely.

mpe2010 04-07-2011 09:37 PM

True, so who do you want to win, I dont care as long as it is not George.

k9870 04-07-2011 09:50 PM

I dont really have a preference, Id like to see jamie kick some ass since hes being treated like shit, but The others seem like good guys, as long as george "failboats" im good.

k9870 04-09-2011 01:48 AM

Gunnuts radio just interviewed jay, he actually comes off as a nice guy and the way he explains things it was much different. He said when he ewas trying to be instructed, he actually switched grips and tried the new way, and the instructors worked with him and there was a lot of talk going between them. The show was then edited to make it look like he was blowing them off. He seemed pretty cool. shows need to edit for entertainment value. However, George is a douche and no editing could change that.

BeardedHoplite 04-10-2011 02:25 AM

What annoys me is that George says what a good sniper he is and he is the bloody Air Force.
I mean, that's like being the world's smartest retard or the world's tallest midget. I mean, no offense to any Air Force men here.
