Super Bowl

i dont really ahte either team (last year my hatred of the colts caused me to root for saints) so any outcome is good this year. Making some bacon-wrapped cheesesteak sliders and sausage cheese dip with fritos, and buffalo meatballs. Epic food day. Whatcha doin yourselves?

Swordfish941 02-06-2011 03:46 PM

My little brother threw a huge last year when the Colts lost (my family are Colts fans). I thought New Orleans deserved the win since they have taken a lot of shit.

k9870 02-06-2011 03:59 PM

I just hate the colts, they never even do run plays, pass every time, and god forbid manning scrambles instead of passing, every time, there a boring team with no variety in plays. I thought it was funny when I was in high school and after the super bowl all the bandwagon fans came to school in winning team t shirts. Its like "wow, this year you like the saints, you liked the patriots 2 years ago, last year you had steelers, rember you wearing a bears jersey once.....Yeah pick a team dont just jump on whoevers top dog that year.

Zulu Two Six 02-06-2011 05:10 PM

Go packers!

k9870 02-06-2011 05:43 PM

I have to root for steelers since my friends dad is and he controls who gets food.

Jcordell 02-06-2011 06:24 PM

I've been a Packers fan for the past sixteen years. I started as a bandwagon fan, but decided to stay on the wagon after they lost to Denver in 98. Decided that I wanted an NFL team to root for in good and bad seasons.

I have never been a fan of the Steelers.

BeardedHoplite 02-06-2011 07:28 PM

I heard somewhere that the city with the highest unemployment won like 80-something percent of all the Superbowls.
The Packers may have that edge but otherwise I really don't care for football.

Zulu Two Six 02-06-2011 07:39 PM

Go packers!

Jcordell 02-07-2011 04:41 AM

Way to go Packers

mjp28 02-07-2011 04:48 AM

Watching P-burg losing on TV.......priceless!

Nice job GB, from long suffering BROWNS fan.

Was anyone else bothered by that Justified ad? If you didn't see it, Timothy Olyphant's character (I don't know his name, I don't watch the show) is in a standoff, and he does his version of the Dirty Harry "Do you feel lucky" speech. Which doesn't really work since he's using a Glock.

Me? No, I like the show but I'm sure some will be all bothered.

Besides he punched him.

Although it sounds like you're trying too hard to be misanthropic again, I do agree with you that I find it hard to get excited over the Super Bowl, or football generally. College basketball's the only sport I enjoy watching, and even then, only when I'm in half-empty bars.

I spent most of Super Bowl night working, then I caught up on "Human Target" (all from the comfort of the library, where there aren't any TVs, anyway).

I agree with you on that. It's just a sport. I spend my Superbowl night doing some algebra and writing in my book.

BTW, I think Smithy is suffering from Agent Smith Syndrome.

While I am - by own admission - highly ignorant of Internet memes, I'm not sure I should feel much shame if they originate from 4chan.

No more like this, (and it probably doesn't count bars and worldwide) :

NEW YORK - For the second year in a row, the Super Bowl has set a new record for American television viewing.

The Nielsen Co. said Monday that an estimated 111 million people watched the Green Bay Packers outlast the Pittsburgh Steelers in professional football's ultimate game. That tops the 106.5 million who watched the 2010 game between New Orleans and Indianapolis.

The series finale of "M-A-S-H" had held the title of the most-watched TV show in the United States for 27 years. It is now No. 3.

Fox had the advantage of a game between two of the National Football League's iconic franchises and, even though it looked like it could be a rout when the Packers took a 21-3 lead, it went down to the final minute and held viewers' interest.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said earlier Monday that preliminary TV ratings show the game is "on track to be the most-watched show in television history."

"So we're excited about the fan reaction," he said.

Television ratings in general have been super for the NFL this year, up 13 percent over last year, Nielsen said. Games on CBS, Fox and NBC averaged 20 million viewers, more than twice what networks get for their prime-time programming.
