Good value movie editing?

Want a video program for when I get a camcorder, computer runs windows 7.

BurtReynoldsMoustache 01-06-2011 02:56 AM

Have you tried Windows Movie Maker?

k9870 01-06-2011 02:58 AM

I just found out you can get it free online so i will

Windows movie maker blows. Need something better, something where i can edit audio and split, move, combine, clips.

I haven't used Windows Movie Maker in ages, but you can't do any of that stuff with it? I always remember being able to edit audio tracks (I've made montage videos with soundtracks from MP3s) and take different videos and splice them together. I'm pretty sure those are abilities which almost any video editing software would allow a person to do.

That's not to say WMM doesn't suck (it does) or that you don't have better options (you do). You're better off using Adobe Premiere.

I cant figure out windows media and the only audio thing is add music, no changing existing stuff. And its not user friendly.

But you have to do it quick, before the Mac's planned obsolesence kicks in and it stops working for no discernible reason

That is a myth, I have never experienced this.

k9870 01-22-2011 06:25 PM

Mac just releases new products and hopes people jump on it since its new, even if its a awful phone that you need to hold with a special apple grip....

Premiere is good, but not all that much easier to use (at least, IMO). Anything Adobe makes usually has a bit of a learning curve. At many universities and art schools, there are entire undergraduate classes dedicated to learning particular Adobe software packages.

True, but k9870 isn't (by his own admission). Just wanted to make sure he's aware that Premiere will require some time to learn.

I figure if you ask someone who knows what they are doing what would be a good program, they're going to suggest whatever program they use

k9870 01-30-2011 02:46 AM

I had experience using dedicated editing machines in a video class but not using computerized programs.
