You are a action hero, what do you carry?

saw this pop up on another forum and though it would be fun. Lets say you get a role in an action movie, and can pick your guns and holsters and such, what do you pick?

Remeber, in a movie you can pack a DE .50, dual wield and spray full auto and control shots. But you may want to get something that suits your style.

Id have a FNP45 2 tone black frame stainless slide, in an alessi bodyguard. And a Ruger LCR as backup in a pocket. Later I would get 2 2 tone cz85 combats with black slides, stainless frames and nill wood grips. All action movie heros lose a main gun and have others in store for the final showdown.

I would have a MAC-11 in one hand, a .455 Webley in the other, several 1911A1s in the ammo belts strapped across my chest and a water-cooled Browning on my back.
Oh, and Take 5 bars

S&Wshooter 01-03-2011 02:08 AM

627 (not the Performance Center model) or a 4506 with a Devel or ASP as back-up.

I'd carry a M1911A1 fitted with Novak sights, a Commander style hammer, Kimber TLE style trigger, ambidextrous safety, full length guide rod, and a Wilson Combat extended magwell. It's kept in a Galco Royal Guard holster.

My main weapon would be a Mossberg 500 Cruiser fitted with ghost ring sights.

S&Wshooter 01-03-2011 02:21 AM

You know what, I'd probably just carry a little Makarov or something, cap some jackass, take his gun, and use weapons recovered from dead bad guys. That way when I lose my gun (like 90% of action stars do) I won't have to buy a new gun

k9870 01-03-2011 02:29 AM

A custom 1911 would be nice too. Theres just so many in action movies and a fnp45 hasnt been used yet. Id want to stand out a bit.

A cz75 czechmate with the red dot, compensator and 26 round mag converted to full auto would be sweet

Steyr AUG as my rifle, HK45 as my sidarm and a set of these OWB in back...never use them, just have 'em there to remind myself and those that help me take my coat what an insane badass I am:

Excalibur 01-03-2011 07:56 AM

Custom Desert Eagle with 10 inch barrel, red dot sight on the rail with the laser and custom extended mags for it. I'd have it nickel plated with bits of blue trim.

And for party nights, I have a custom AR-15 pistol

Yournamehere 01-03-2011 08:22 AM

M60 with a sling, dual Glock 18s in a shoulder rig, and dual sawn off O/U shotguns, one on each leg.

BurtReynoldsMoustache 01-03-2011 04:33 PM

codpiece minigun

Unless your playing a mercenary it's not like your going to have the same full weaponry load-out throughout the film.

All I'd need is a Glock 26 that I'd happen to be packing one day and any weapon my unfortunate henchmen victims drop.

Zulu Two Six 01-03-2011 05:22 PM

Glock 23, nuff said.

k9870 01-03-2011 08:22 PM

I forgot my long guns.

1. Ruger SR556, converted to full auto, with vltor stock, Piece of pac-skin over stock since that vltor likes to grab facial hair, A foregrip, streamlight weaponlight, dual pmags clamped together, and a eotec sight. Single point sling. Tangodown battle grip.

2. Remington 870 folding stock with 18 inch barrel, 6 shot mag tube, and side saddle. Have it on my back as a backup/breaching gun but when i use it I actually unfold the stock, unlike most action movies.

k9870 01-03-2011 08:24 PM

Bad guys will all carry guns I hate. Gang bangers with hi point C9s, lorcins, ravens, jennings, bryco, etc. And the well armed bad guys will have glunks or berettas.

But it is inevitable that at some point, you will lose your guns. What then? If you are using whatever you grab off of gang bangers, you won't give a shit. A customized gun with sentimental value, however, is another story

k9870 01-03-2011 08:32 PM

As I said i have the CZs, like when Dirty harry lost the model 29 and went home to grab the automag:D

I'm kinda of vague on what "action hero" means, but assuming that the role was based on a particular type of character, I would want to carry weapons appropriate for that character. If I were playing a federal agent, I'd carry a Glock or SIG as sidearm (since that's what most federal law enforcement agencies issue). If I were playing an SF soldier, I'd have an M4 or FN SCAR as my primary and a 1911 or SIG as my sidearm (since those are what most SF personnel carry).

Also, I don't like it when movies have protagonists who use weapons that are different (i.e. "superior") to those of their adversary or comrades. Directors do it because they seem to think it demonstrates that the hero is more individualistic and more badass than everyone else around him/her, but I think that difference for the sake of difference is just unnecessary and stupid. If you want an example, I think it's highly unrealistic that in "Heat", Vincent Hanna carries a custom ivory-gripped 1911 and an FNC, while everyone else in his squad carries the department-issue Berettas and either Mossbergs or M16s as long guns. And yes, I also know it's almost blasphemy to say anything negative about "Heat", and I also appreciate that Michael Mann uses his characters' choices of guns to illustrate their personalities.

Then again, maybe it's just because I relate more to everyman-type characters (the guys who are unlikely to emerge as heroes, but do so anyway). Part of my own personality, I guess.

k9870 01-04-2011 04:15 PM

Detectives have more leniency on what they can carry since most arent getting in gunfights and are more investigators, but the FNC doesnt make sense.

And even if you carry an issue gun your going to customize it to your liking (light, laser, custom grips, etc.)

And backup guns can be anything.

But the way I see it an action hero should stand out as the ultimate badass. Not sink in more. The regular guy is a hero, the ultimate badass is an action hero (liek old school action films.)

Excalibur 01-04-2011 04:16 PM

When I think of "action hero" I think of the over the top style of characters with guns that really isn't the best choice in real life or guns that are just awesome.

S&Wshooter 01-04-2011 04:40 PM

Maybe I'd do like Danila Bagrov in the Brother movies and use really old stuff I can get cheaply. It'd be much better than breaking the bank for brand new custom guns

An action hero doesnt care what guns cost.

True, action heroes care more about looking like a complete badass, they do things like chomp a cigar while hip firing an assault rifle and not taking cover since there too badass to be hit.

they're not too badass to be hit, they just dont have time to bleed

k9870 01-05-2011 12:45 AM

Id definitely walk away in slow motion with stuff blowing up around me calmly lighting a cigar with one hand while racking the slide of a shotgun one handed with another then resting on my shoulder, you know, like in real life.

Excalibur 01-05-2011 04:24 AM

I actually want the Aliens' M41A Pulse Rifle but with a better sight system. The iron sights look like they are for show as a prop. I'd want an EoTech sigh on top. Other than that, nothing else I would like different about this gun. Except that when they say those are 10mm explosive and caseless. I want them to be exactly like that. As in a 10mm rifle round with explosive impacts.

That might be the Schwarzenegger/Stallone-type action hero, but there are more types. Bruce Willis usually plays "everyman" type heroes (McClane being the best example) who aren't so over-the-top.

Also, I do appreciate that movies aren't supposed to be perfectly realistic (otherwise, I wouldn't enjoy them). However, action heroes who seem almost like real-life, normal guys (but just happen to be smarter and braver than meets the eye) allow me to suspend disbelief more easily.

k9870 01-05-2011 08:05 PM

This threads just for fun though, more like if you starred in a remake of Commando than if you were in Die Hard.

Excalibur 01-06-2011 04:26 AM

Why don't we do that? That gives me an idea for a thread.
