Who were your action heroes growing up?

Growing up me and a friend probably saw every single shwartzenneger film worth seeing. Then my dad was a big western fan so lots of John wayne and clint eastwood.

Then I started watching Stallone and Willis, so all of them pretty much. Who stood out for you?

I remember when i was like four i saw Missing in action 2 and was hooked on Norris ever since. Plus Seagal before he douched out. I like the under siege movies. OHHH and VAn Damage was still cool back then

k9870 11-17-2010 12:17 AM

I forgot segal, but under siege wa sall i can really remember.

S&Wshooter 11-17-2010 01:49 AM

Van Damme, Seagal, Bronson

predator20 11-17-2010 01:58 AM

Michael Biehn in Terminator, Aliens. Kurt Russell too.

AdAstra2009 11-17-2010 02:02 AM

Commando with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I remember watching it when I was like 8 years old with my dad and I said "I can't believe he can do that". My dad would then reply with "It's a movie son".

k9870 11-17-2010 02:22 AM

I saw some van damme and segal movies growing up, plus biehn, but Shwartzenneger, Stallone and Willis were THE action heroes (stalllone and willis also making new movies.) I really got into eastwood when i was a bit older, and John wayne movies were cool but he was a different kind of icon.

FirearmFan 11-17-2010 03:19 AM

Bruce Willis for me. Especially the Die Hard series. Arnold, Seagal, and Stallone as well. Never got into Van Damme movies much. I have a couple of his movies and I've seen more but they never really stood out to me.

BurtReynoldsMoustache 11-17-2010 03:23 AM

Jeff Goldblum

But Goldblum didn't physically kick any ass in those movies

funkychinaman 11-17-2010 10:22 PM

Growing up, my brother and I watched Rockies III and IV and Rambo II all the time. Granted, probably not the best films to watch when you're trying to learn English though.

Bruce Willis never survived a T. rex attack.

Bruce isn't retired yet

Jcordell 11-18-2010 11:12 PM

Steve McQueen, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck, Stallone, Arnold. I was already in college when Bruce started his movie career. Arnold started hitting it big when I was a junior in high school (Terminator 1984) so he was right at the tail end of my growing up years. First Blood came out my freshman year in High School, but I saw Nighthawks when I was in 7th grade in the spring of 1981 so he counts.

Excalibur 11-18-2010 11:15 PM

I've had all sorts from Clint Eastwood, Bruce Lee, Arnold, etc

Swordfish941 11-18-2010 11:17 PM

Viggo Mortensen. He kicked major ass as Aragorn in Lord of the Rings.

Late to this topic, but...

For me, I would say my biggest action heroes were at least half the cast of "Aliens", including Michael Biehn, Sigourney Weaver, and Bill Paxton. (Yeah, his most infamous line may have been the cowardly "Game over!" bullshit, but you gotta give him credit for putting on his game face against the last alien invasion - so moto!)

Yeah, but at the end, he manned up and went out bravely.

k9870 12-03-2010 07:23 PM

I was a gibson fan, back in the day, the road warrior and bravehart, all those cool movies. Too bad hes gone crazy.

BurtReynoldsMoustache 12-03-2010 07:51 PM

Huzzah I'm young enough that Jason Statham counts! Snatch, The Transporter, The Italian Job, saw them all in high school!

Jcordell 12-03-2010 10:40 PM

I forgot Charles Bronson and Sean Connery

k9870 12-03-2010 10:44 PM

Ah yes me and a friend used to be real into spies and classic bond was the best.

He is only crazy when he stops taking his medication. Common problem.

David.

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal.
