Gamer 2009 + accessories

Name the accessory on every Slayers weapon!
I am trying to figure out what this is..
http://www.imfdb.org/images/5/5f/Gamer3004.jpg

I know what it is in the movie
(a electronic mechanism that allows the rifle to function when lit green)
what is it in the real world? Or is it something that the movie makers fabricated for the movie.

They made it up for the movie.

That seems like a very positive statement.
In the movie it's a mechanism that allows the weapon to fire only when the light is green.
Where is your credit of it being fabricated for the movie? that would be nice to know.
In the real world it seems very much like a green laser mount.

Sorry for any rudeness you may perceive from this post but your bluntness does not deem credible unless with some kind of confirmation.

Burt made something which is widely known as a "safe assumption". Asking here is not the wisest thing to do, btw. The senior members like MPM2008 etc. know a lot about firearms, but not devices such as the one used in the movie.

Or can anyone here honestly say that they ever dealt with such gizmos from a technological standpoint :P

Your safest bet would be to contact the makers of the movie directly. Look through the credits for the Prop people, if itīs a company find out if they have a homepage. If yes, itīs simply a matter of sending an e-mail. If not you could go through all the hassle of contacting the studio that financed the film. They could then forward you to the right people.
If you are lucky one of the prop makers will give IMFDB some exclusive info at some point. And since those devices are apparently a key plot device they would surely get some mention.

you can see in the pictures that its just a green lit bulb like on a remote control...so its not a laser. It does of a QR lever on it which makes it look quality...but once again it cant project a laser.

Also it interferes with the sights.

Yeah, but it's a movie. They don't need no *EFF!*ing sights.

If the light is supposed to be an indicator of the weapon being ready to fire, shouldn't it be facing towards the shooter? Or at least to the side?

They banned curse words over there too?

I can't eat waffles anymore because of Gamer. Anyone who has seen the movie knows exactly why :(

No, it's just a habit of mine.

Need to get around to watching that movie.
If they're supposed to disable the weapons, shouldn't they be mounted on the receiver? Especially with the G36, I can't see any way it would be able to do anything. Do they have a smaller version for pistols?

PMP 10-08-2010 10:53 PM

My theory is that besides blocking the weapon off-game, that is the device that allows the player to see the FPS view.
Thats why it blocks the sights. The guy holding isn't using it. The player is.

Doesn't the movie explain how the players can see what they're doing?
