On the Road

I just found out that the folks in Hollywood are making an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's On the Road. It's going to be directed by Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries). Here is the cast:

Sam Riley - Sal Paradise

Garrett Hedlund - Dean Moriarty

Viggo Mortensen - Old Bull Lee

Tom Sturridge - Carlo Marx

Kristen Stewart - Mary Lou

Kirsten Dunst - Camille

I'm I the only person in this forum who's interested in this film adaptation?

Pretty much ;)

C'mon people, it's a great book by a great author. It may suck that it has Kristen Stewart in it, but Viggo Mortensen makes up for that.

Yournamehere 08-23-2010 03:26 AM

I personally don't think that even the great Viggo Mortensen can help a vehicle for Kristen Stewart...

Swordfish941 08-23-2010 03:33 AM

Basicly, the characters in Kerouac's book are anologues to him and his friends that he had on the road trips. For Example:

Sal Paradise - Jack Kerouac

Dean Moriarty - Neal Cassidy

Old Bull Lee - William S. Burroughs

Carlo Marx - Allen Ginsberg

I actually thought she was quite good in Adventureland.

They´re filming it in Bariloche, and Kristen Stewart arrived a couple of days ago.

Did you get to meet any other actors?

No, I don´t live in Bariloche, but the press covered the arrival of Stewart.

I think she was good in The Runaways as Joan Jett. I'm a huge punk rock fan.

What's so bad about her?

You could replace him with a scarecrow in most of his movies and they'd still be the same

I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only knew kung fu

My mom and my niece both are deathly afraid of clowns. You, I think, are the first person I've ever encountered who has a phobia of scarecrows.

Don't make fun of the scarecrow. He doesn't have a brain.

"The scarecrow is a better athlete to begin with because he's been bred to be that way, because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back, and they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs. This goes back all the way to the Civil War when during the slave trading, the owner, the slave owner, would breed his big scarecrow to his big woman so that he could have a big scarecrow kid."

Enough talk about scarecrows! Let's get back on topic! How many people here have read the book?

Here's the first official photos of On the Road. I'm liking it so far (and I'm impressed with Sam Riley's look. The guy's British, but he looks very American here):

I now take back my comment on Kristen Stewart after seeing her in Panic Room. She was very good in it. The Twilight films just have very weak scripts.
