If You Were A Vigilante

I've decided to create this thread because I'm currently obsessed with the work of Alan Moore (especially Watchman and V for Vendetta). Basicly describe yourself if you were a masked vigilante. Include a name, costume, equipment, and a firearm of choice.

My costume would consist of a Guy Fawkes mask, a black Panama Hat, a black duster, jump boots, cargo pants, and a belt. My main equipment would be a grappling gun, a few smoke bombs, M84 Stun Grenades, Plasticuffs, and a few throwing knifes. My gun would be a pair of "4 inch Colt Python revolvers fitted with factory black rubber combat grips, often dual wielded. They're kept in dual shoulder holster rig. My name would be "The Martyr".

Excalibur 08-17-2010 03:03 AM

I'd like to point out how stupid it is to dress up like a known pop culture reference. Seriously, Masked characters are a thing of the past nowadays unless you're talking about classic superheroes.

Anyway, I'd invent a mask that would change my face into any random person so my identity is a secret and I can blend into a crowd during my escape. My costume would consist of a suit that dragonskin armor under a jacket and it really depends on my mood.

My weapons would be whatever I want depending on the mission at hand. I'd have a signature katana like sword to swing around sometimes.

Ski mask, Milsurp gear, firearms for any situation

Markost 08-17-2010 03:06 AM

Probably a ski mask, a taser and a small knife.

I'm pretty sure this is what you wear normally.

Excalibur 08-17-2010 03:08 AM

I would just go around like the Punisher, killing all those who kill, rape, etc

Swordfish941 08-17-2010 03:10 AM

I would just beat the shit out of pimps and drug dealers

Excalibur 08-17-2010 03:11 AM

Nah, beating people takes time. Time where I can just shoot them in the stomach and let them bleed out and slowly die

Everything except the ski mask. It's too damn hot and it's hard to wear one with my glasses

And wasting bullets? Hell no, a crossbow is cheaper and more epic.

A kukri would be manlier

Oh please. No blade weapon is more manly than a katana or a claymore.

Why does everyone thing the Katana is some sort of superweapon? Unless you are trained to use it and fight someone who is also using a katana or a worse weapon, you are royally fucked

In fact, a kukri is just as effective as a Katana, but you do not need to have training to use a Kukri so...Kukri FTW

Excalibur 08-17-2010 04:26 AM

I have been trained in a Katana. I don't know how to use a Claymore sword cause that thing weighs a ton.

Swing until the enemy is dead

Yournamehere 08-17-2010 04:44 AM

Kukris are typically MORE effective than a katana in untrained hands since the weight distribution allows for more powerful swings, even with novices. This is why they have fire axes (weighting principle similar to that of the kukri) and not fire katanas, heheh.

I would either go completely Travis Bickle, mohawk and all:

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/7383/travisg.gif

Or dress up like the Fonejacker, which is similar in dress, but I would have a silly balaclava on and speak in countless silly accents:

And of course I would have a gun because not having a gun is fucking suicide. Any of you who thinks they can take on dangerous criminals with edged weapons is off their rocker. Guns are the equalizer, and edged weapons are the "less than" sign (<).

Blades= last resort/ stealth weapon

Yournamehere 08-17-2010 05:07 AM

Yes those are two of the few applicable areas for an edged weapon, but they are still not completely practical/safe for yourself. A silenced weapon, while harder to get than a knife or something, will also do the job of stealth, and at range, and frankly sneaking up on someone with a knife is harder than you think, I doubt I could do it. As a last resort, you can carry another small gun too. I wouldn't want to get into a close range knife fight any day; so much could go wrong. My main point though was that a large edged/melee weapon as a primary weapon is ridiculous, but I would probably carry a switchblade in case my gun or guns failed me. Two is one and one is none, as they say.

No. Switchblades are for dumbshits. A mini kukri is what is needed

Excalibur 08-17-2010 05:26 AM

Katana may be cool, but I can just take a machete and just start hacking. The Asian Machete. That'll be my name

S&Wshooter 08-17-2010 05:28 AM

If the idea wasn't extremely stupid, I'd suggest we all get together and form a league of vigilantes. Of course none of use would actually do any vigilante-ing

You could get one of them katana machetes!

Swordfish941 08-17-2010 05:40 AM

Can you guys please give yourselves names?

Fuckin' fine! I am...the S&W shooter- just like always

Yournamehere 08-17-2010 06:25 AM

A mini kukri kind of (though not completely) defeats the point of the kukri, and good luck hiding that thing confortably.

Coming up with a name is kind of silly and too superhero-y. Let the papers give you a name.

ManiacallyChallenged 08-17-2010 04:16 PM

I'd wear a police uniform and badge, and carry a police issue weapon. I'd also probably be a policeman. Just to be official and all that.

Spartan198 08-17-2010 05:21 PM

http://images.allmoviephoto.com/2004...nisher_001.jpg

Unlike Batman and Superman, he gets shit done, period. So this is pretty much the template I'd use.

k9870 08-17-2010 05:59 PM

Id dress in normal street clothes, seriously, nothing says "im the vigilante killing people" like flashy dress up. Hypothetically if I was in let say Fallout strolling around the wasteland, that may be different.

Where's the fun in that?

k9870 08-17-2010 07:37 PM

He wouldnt be arrested his second night on the street like a guy in a guy fawkes mask would. Its blending in. Uniformed people are always more trusted by the public.

Not by me they aren't.

k9870 08-17-2010 09:50 PM

I dont just mean police and military, andy uniform in general. People trust mechanics in a company uniform more than a guy in a t shirt with their car, uniformed hotel staff, etc. Its a subconcious thing with people

I always assume mechanics are trying to rip me off.

Jcordell 08-18-2010 12:13 AM

Yeah it is rather satisfying to imagine taking out the bad guys. But just remember that they are probably going to be armed as well. And I can tell you from personal experience some of them not only have the ability, but the willingess to use their weapon of choice.

In other words some of the felons (as well as low level petit crooks) in this world are very capable. Kind of like going to war. The other side is also going to be fighting.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Is this going to turn into a cop bashing session? Really? I'm the first to admit there are bad cops out there, but lets try not to engage in sterotypes and cliches. Please.

Swordfish941 08-18-2010 12:26 AM

My inspiration for my costume comes from V and Rorschach.

I have had some very friendly informative encounters with the police, I've had some pricks. But my initial attitude is of cautious distrust, not outright revolutionary hostility.

paraordnance 08-18-2010 05:26 PM

I would call myself "Akimbo Gunfighter" and I would carry two Glock 17s, a piton gun, incendiary and flashbang grenades. I'd wear black cargo pants, Kevlar Vest and a paintball mask.

A Guy Fawkes mask with continuously shifting facial features? That would make you look like Salvador Dali's Mr. Potatohead.

Swordfish941 08-18-2010 09:34 PM

I meant the Panama Hat and the duster with the Guy Fawkes mask.
