How do you pronounce "Blaser"?
 

My dad has a hunting configured Blaser R93 in the shop right now, and he says it's pronounced like "Blauser" (and has an Austrian friend of his who agrees) while I though it was pronounced like "Blay-zer". What is the proper pronounciation?

Blaser is from Germany, so it must be "Blauser".

Blay-zer. If it were Blauser, it'd be spelled Blauser, but with an umlaut over the "U"

This is correct, I think it's supposed to be pronounced "blosser".

I say Blay-zer, and I agree that if it were Blau-ser, it would be spelled as such.

Being German, I would say it`s pronounced Blah-ser.
Blay-ser would have been my guess if the company was english or american.

Agreed. I tend to pronounce it the English way though. And Blaser is a somewhat odd name for a weapon.

I've always said "blay-zer", but I suspect "blah-ser" is technically correct. I wouldn't worry about it too much - when I worked at Cabelas it was the rare customer that didn't call Leupold "Leopold" or say they wanted ammo for their "7 M-M". That last one really kills me - we're metric for god's sakes.

How is "Saiga" in Saiga-12 pronounced? I always pronounced in "Sai-ga", but on Burn Notice this week, Mike pronounced it "Say-ga" (like Sega, the company who made the Genesis and Dreamcast game consoles).

Sai-ga. My Russian friend used to talk about them a lot and he always said Sai-ga
