There are no copyrights on the 1911. The patent for the design ended years ago, which is why there are so many clones. The design became free to everyone when it expired. As annoying as it is, they have fullrights to make their own 1911.

I hate the new trend of big billboarded logos on 1911, especially something stupid like "desert eagle."

I suppose it's not like they haven't done this before, though. After the Desert Eagle became a big Hollywood star, they renamed the Jericho (their only practical handgun) to "Baby Eagle".

I mean the "Desert Eagle" name, but then I remember that MR is the owner of the name :confused: (my bad, the first thing I think when i read something about Desert Eagles is IMI...)

1911 Desert Eagle is a pretty gay name but not the biggest naming fail in fire arms (EAA Witness Hunter).

The Jericho isn't really "their" gun. They didn't design it; the Israelis did. Magnum Research is simply the U.S. importer.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Desert Eagle's Hollywood stardom began before the Jericho was introduced (1990). It had already been in movies like "Commando", "Red Heat", and "RoboCop" by that time.

The Jericho may be based off the CZ-75, but it's not a direct copy. I think its design changes from the basic CZ-75 are enough that the Israelis can call it their own.

Yeah I agree. We don't look at every pistol ever made and think of it as a shameless 1911 knockoff, even though the gun has inspired countless other designs. The differences, sometimes drastic ones, are usually the important than the similarities. I consider the Jericho as it's own gun built on the CZ pattern, not a "CZ knockoff".
