Left 4 Dead 2

So, who's excited for Left 4 Dead 2?

k9870 06-02-2009 08:54 PM

Well is there any articles, first looks, expected release dates?

Alcatrazz 06-02-2009 11:42 PM

Hell yeah motherfucker, there's the official announcement by Valve, the E3 Trailer, and the bitching on the forums. Go to steam news to see the trailer.

I'm more excited about Modern Warfare 2

I'd love to play it, but it's coming out at the same time that I'm starting my M.A., so I expect to be buried with crap to do.

What he said.

I haven't played the first Left 4 Dead yet so it isn't surprising I'm not exstatic about the sequel coming out. I don't have $60 handy to buy any games with, don't rent, and I'm pretty sure my Xbox 360 just got the ring of death for the SECOND time. I sent it back once and got it repaired, but today it crapped out and a half-red circle started flashing. I hate Microsoft...

ManiacallyChallenged 06-08-2009 01:04 AM

Left 4 Dead pissed me the fuck off.
What with the running zombies and crap, it didn't feel like a zombie survival game, it seemed like a shitty rail shooter.

Gah! I hated it so much.

Excalibur 06-09-2009 04:37 AM

Yeah, I didn't like the running zombie effect either. They should have made it with slow walking zombies with only a handful of runners and special ones to make tension better.

Gunmaster45 06-09-2009 04:58 AM

Another zombie game that was kind of bad was Dead Rising. I loved the concept of wandering through the mall and killing as many zombies as I could, but the dumb story kept me on a strict time line. And I couldn't (or didn't care) beat the bosses, so I never completed the story. So I never unlocked the survival mode, which was what really interested me. And only save points in the bathroom? What happened to checkpoints? When I need to stop playing, I can't just search for the bathroom whenever I need to stop, I just need to stop.

ManiacallyChallenged 06-09-2009 10:02 PM

I liked Dead Rising okay, but the gunplay was awful.
It was like a worse version of RE4, but with zombies that didn't seem to care.

There was no fear or danger, because the zombies just stood there waiting for you. Even if there were thousands of them, they still just kind of milled around.

The cutscene where the spec-force guys attacked the mall made me grin hugely however.

Excalibur 06-10-2009 03:07 AM

Well Dead Rising was just a fun game to play. It wasn't meant to be scary or suspenseful, but more of a parody of zombie stories. Try killing a zombie with everything at your disposal.

Spartan198 06-10-2009 09:33 AM

Did any of you who played Dead Rising notice the "Jill's Sandwiches" food stand?

ManiacallyChallenged 06-10-2009 08:15 PM

Really? I totally never noticed that.
That's awesome.
It was a Capcom game though, so not too surprising.

I didn't play it to get scared, I just wanted to kill zombies and the story kept me from doing that, so I didn't like it.

Yeah, it was a nod to Resident Evil's Jill Valentine. It pokes fun at the infamous Barry Burton line, "you were almost a Jill sandwich". And upon closer inspection a description of the restaurant owner "Jill" reveals that "Jill is a master of sandwich making", which also pokes fun at more of Barry's corny dialogue (his line about Jill being the "master of unlocking") from the original Resident Evil.
