Good and Bad business decisions by gun companies:
Sometimes a company does something great, sometimes....they suck.
Heres some I see: Bad: S&W adopting Internal Locks. There is pretty much nobody who likes them and many people boycott for some reason. Bad: Ruger. Jumping In bed wit the liberals, supporting the AWB, then going even farther just selling 5-round mini 14 mags and nuetering guns. Good: Ruger. Ditching bill rugers ideas, introducing cool new guns, bringing back standard capacity mags and setting up a rep for best customer service in the business. Bad: Dan Wesson. they were known to have the highest quality 1911s in their price range. The CBOB was the most loved.....wildly popular. they discontinued half their line this year and introduce expensive as hell new guns. Epic Fail. Good: Savage. introducing the accutrigger and accustock, making much better rifles, for not much more cost. Excellent rifles/ Bad: SIG. The whole magazine issue where they were selling with one instead of 2. Since fixed. What have you seen that you liked, and whats made you think "WTF?" |
Magnum Research: creating the POS known as the Deserty Eagle
CZ: Making all of the newer models of their pistols really ugly Colt: Creating the Colt All American 2000 SIG: Changing production methods, making all of their pistols unbalanced Ruger: Trying to sell the MP9 to LE units who were already using the MP5 H&K: Denying the civilian market all of their non-shitty products Dornaus & Dixon: Bren Ten- 'nuff said |

I know this seems unlikely for a S&W fanboy like me to say,but...
Bad:S&W, for making that revolver with a explode-o-matic aluminum cylinder Bad: S&W, for their tiny little Airweight revolvers that have grips so short that you can't even fit 2 fingers on them Bad:S&W, for making Hogue grips stock on alot of their revolvers, making it uncomfortable for people with big hands (me) to handle/fire them |
Smith just released a 686 plus 5 inch, but it looks ugly. The SSR looked cool in 4 inch, the 5 just turns me off. Its got the "pro series" barrel profile.
|
The performance center 686? Yeah, it's pretty ugly. It's like tearing up a brand new Shelby Cobra and putting spinners, a spoiler and hydraulics into it
|
Good: Browning; for every single thing they have ever done:)
Good: FN, same as Browning Good: S&W, for not taking advantage of their customers by not making everything way more expensive than it should be Good: Colt, for all of their revolvers Bad: Colt, for discontinuing the Python |

"Because FN-Browning loves you, and you're awesome" :D
|
How about Remington putting cheap barrels on the Etronix rifles when the advantages of electronic priming apply mainly to match shooters?
Or Winchester going to push feed on the post-64 Model 70s? |
Ive heard the push feed rifles were actually more accurate. FN fixed it though, apparently the new controlled feed fn model 70s are better than all previous winchester model 70s.
|
BTW, earlier I got a new Luger. I hate the thing. I can't find a .45 round it will feed consistently. The grip was also old so i threw them out and added some hogues. Theres also a tacky looking eagle on the reciever i had to grind off.

Its a luger, bought it at a yardsale....5 bucks and i see why. There was also a 1911 that was made by some sewing machine company....no wonder it sucks. I replaced the internals with ed brown parts and wolf springs. Lapped off the markings and painted it in a digital pattern.
|
Post a pic. You probably should have bought the 1911 also, because if it was made by Singer Sewing Machine Company you could sell it for a ton of money
|
Ok guys, clearly it's a joke.
|
That's why I demanded a picture-so he will be caught bullshitting us
|
Okay, Bad by FN:
Love FN, but they neutered the civilan fs2000. The internals are plastic. Ive seen airsoft guns that look more robust. Not acceptable in a 2000 dollar gun. |
Still no pic of this 5 Buck Luger
|
Wow you guys are dense, he's obviously joking. He'd know better than to put Hogues on a .45 Luger or grind off the Nazi Eagle.
|
He actually means an American Eagle. Although oddly enough, the US Army .45 Lugers never had them, just the 7.65mm commercial versions made for the US market.
And contrary to the enduring myth that two were made and only one survived, most scholars think there were 6. Until recently, only #2 and #3 were accounted for, but a .45 caliber Luger carbine turned up with serial number 21 recently. There's some debate over it's the real thing or one of the reproductions made in the 90s (at 10 grand each). |
There must be some copy made in the USA and rechambered for .45 by some gunsmith, just for fun...
|
An American Eagle? I've seen the Nazi one, but I've never seen one of those. Then again I've never seen one in .45 either................
|
I would say Colt not putting their 1020 piston upper into production is a bad decision, considering piston ARs seem to be all the rage these days.
|
Bad: HK-they make there own special super rails that only hk attachments can fit on......
|
ok, first all of H&K is shit
second becaue ur not an operator. you wouldn't understand because you suck. and we hate you |

Hard to find. But think about it, a gunsmith could do it, so thatīs not impossible. |
Actually, it's not a question of conversion, you literally need to build the gun from scratch. And a Luger is not a simple gun to build, there are a lot of complicated machining operations and tight tolerances involved. The .45 Lugers had literally no parts in common with the 9mm / 7.65mm guns. Everything had to be scaled up. Lugers are big, bulky guns, but all that space is being used, they're quite tight internally.
