And this doesn't even mention the Underworld reboot announced earlier this week.

I can't believe Warner Brothers are trying to milk more money off the Harry Potter franchise.

funkychinaman 08-30-2014 03:57 PM

If they can't bring back Nestor Carbonell as Batmanuel, I don't think they should bother.

I'm surprised they aren't rebooting it with all new stories. James Bond and Sherlock Holmes movies aren't limited to the output of their authors, why should Harry Potter?

Good news! That piece of garbage Transformers: Age of Extinction isn't the highest grossing movie of the year anymore:

I'm a bit surprised it was able to beat LEGO Movie, considering the universal appeal and kid friendliness.

Chris Pratt is the lead in two of the biggest films of the year. He's the anti-Taylor Kitsch.

And I'm surprised that The LEGO Movie was a such a huge success.

But it was able to remind me how awesome Legos are.

I got that kit for Christmas in either 1986 or 87, and every now and then I've been tempted to buy it again. It's not that it was an extraordinary kit, it's just hopelessly clinging to the past.

S&Wshooter 09-03-2014 02:24 AM

PPV'd Sabotage. The "special forces" guys the cartel use in the film are sloppy as fuck, and I also don't see why everyone that'd been targeted wasn't put in some kind of protective custody as soon as the first agent was murdered

Why don't they just reboot T.J. Hooker as a new tv show, like what they did with Hawaii Five-0? I'd watch it (unless they completely botched it up like what they did with that godawful Charlie's Angels reboot show).

Was it even that good of a show? (I was just joking, but at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they did make a movie of it.) Charlie's Angels didn't work because unlike in 1976, audiences had more than four channels available and it just wasn't that good of a show. A lot of stuff back then were hits just because there wasn't a lot of competition.

That being said, I'd really like to see a reboot or continuation of Miami Vice.

It's a collector's item now, though. Back in the day it was only about $50. I wish they'd re-release it. Heck, I wish they'd bring back the Pirates line as a whole. And do a Greco-Roman line.

funkychinaman 09-03-2014 04:39 PM

I hope they don't just burn him off in one movie then.

Now that the whitewashed, live action Akira adaptation is stalled/dead, another classic manga is up.

I have a feeling that this adaptation (if it ever gets off the ground) will sodomize the source material, just like how Dragonball Evolution did to the original manga.

And note to Hollywood: LEAVE THE MANGA ADAPTATIONS TO THE JAPANESE!! THEY PROVE THAT THEY CAN MAKE PROPER ADAPTATIONS!!!

In general I'd go along with that, but that are some that I'd like to see and could still work with Americanisation, like Baccano or Black Lagoon.

Looking at a list of American live-action manga adaptations though, it's a pretty sad track record. I totally forgot The Guyver and Fist of the North Star got adapted into live action.

FUCK YEAH! They're using Shishio Makoto as the main bad guy!

Excalibur 09-07-2014 04:42 AM

My one gripe with the first movie is the lack of a good soundtrack. I hope they've corrected it in this one. I'm also glad they made 2 whole movies instead of compressing the entire plot into one.

funkychinaman 09-07-2014 04:26 PM

If we could have multiple people play James Bond or Sherlock Holmes, we can have more than one guy play the Terminator, right? Arnold will be 71 in 2018.

Is this one directed by Uwe Boll as well?

I don't get why you guys deliberately watch bad movies. Don't we accidentally watch enough bad movies in our lifetime? Why deliberately throw yourself in front of one?

Well, a couple reasons. I was curious because I watched the first one and that one was actually kinda good. It didn't have a real plot or message to it like this one is trying to force down my throat. If anything, it's almost like an adaptation of GTA if you just go around town murdering people for no reason and stealing money.

And...somebody needs to do the gun caps

I've seen Boll's "Funny" Version of House of the Dead, and it was mind-numbingly stupid.

For a guy who refuses to use guns, the presence of guns on Batmobiles has always puzzled me.

Actually in a lot of the comics, there were guns on the batmobile but they have rubber bullets on them. According to the canon, he has never used them and when one of the Robins took a ride in the batmobile when he used them because he hated baterangs.

He doesn't fire proper bullets from them though, it is always weird stuff like tranq darts, rubber bullets, tasers, concussion grenades, stuff like that. Depending on who is writing/drawing him he has on rare occasions used guns or gun-like weapons himself, mainly for grappling hooks but occasionally directed energy, less lethal projectiles of some sort, or whatever mcguffin is needed to take down his current opponent. In the comics he now has (well, not has, but will have, its complicated) a sidekick called Bluebird that carries a gun, non-lethal though it may be. Hell, some artwork that was released for an upcoming issue shows Batman with a gun too (and a cybernetic hand as well).

From looking at these photos, does anybody else get the feeling that it transforms into different modes? There are doors at the front which are folded down and look like they could fold over the air intakes above them. Similarly, the various fins look like they could fold down flat against the body and the wheels look like they might retract in tight against the body. My guess is that this is in normal mode, but in battle or when he smashes through stuff all of the plates and wheels will retract in to protect it and make it smaller.
