I've shot a Beretta 92FS, Glock 17 and an H&K P30. I like the P30 the best.

There ya go newbie. The hammer is not factory, and I took it out a while ago anyhow. It's a Series 70 style rip, and not so much a WWII model.

Oh Lawdy! Is Eye in heaven?! ;)

Thank you man for the foto. It's one sexy Colt you've got there. 7 bullets in the mag?

Yournamehere 11-30-2009 11:12 PM

First of all, it's not a Colt, it's a Springfield. Colt made the first 1911s, but they are not responsible for the design, so to call any and all 1911s a Colt is inaccurate. You should only refer to a 1911 as a Colt if it is in fact one that was manufactured by Colt.

Second, I have two 7 round magazines and four 8 round magazines. I don't know which I had in the gun at the time.

Funny thing is most GI 1911s were made by SA (the old SA, not the new one) and colt only made a few. Issued 1911s were a mixed bag. Remington Rand, singer, ithaca.....

Nyles 12-01-2009 07:54 AM

Actually, SA never made many 1911s, they're very rare today. Colt made most (about 240,000), followed by Remington-UMC (21,677), with Springfield a distant third (50,000 ordered but significantly less made due to their heat treating issues and concentrating on the 1903 rifle) and NAA an absolute last at 100. 1911A1s are much the same, with Colt being the most common, followed by Remington-Rand, then Ithaca, US&S and Singer.

Yeah, I wanna ask about ORIGINAL design.
Is Colt, Springfield, etc still manufacturing CLASSIC looking (like Yournamehere's one) guns.
I mean model 1911a1, not models based on 1911 like Kimber Pro II which is obviously different from original design but based on it.

(Sorry for my poor english, I'm from Europe)

Excalibur 12-01-2009 05:13 PM

I'm sure they do

Springfield makes the G.I. and Mil Spec models. Colt reintroduced the Government model. (I think it's really their 80 series 1911 with different roll marks) They're all the plain jain style. No front serrations on the slide, etc. Many others like Rock Island Armory make them too.

I happen to be A 45 fanatic.Being an former Marine,of the Vietnam era,
I feel there is no better round for stopping bad guy's in there tracks.I've
studied the results of what happens to the human body when hit with
various rounds, and the 45 acp is hands down is the most devastating
all the energy is expended in side the body. When someone is hit with a 45
the doctor will tell the next of kin that he might get better, but he won't get well.
