Whitney-Kennedy rifle.

This one's not hard if you know your military muzzleloaders.

And nice one with the Roper, I was totally stumped on that one.

Excalibur 12-28-2010 04:17 AM

Brunswick rifle?

It reminds me of the Pattern 1853 Enfield, made by the same company, but that metal plate on the stock isn't on the Enfield.

Nyles 12-29-2010 05:02 AM

Definately not a Brunswick, but would have been used in the same role when originally issued.

That's a lever action rifle. This rifle is a muzzle loader

Nyles 12-31-2010 05:14 AM

Hint: If you look close, there's an eagle on the lock plate.

Gunner313 12-31-2010 09:15 PM

M1841 Mississippi Rifle

;)

Nyles 01-01-2011 01:26 AM

That it is. I was sure someone was going to guess Remington Zouave Rifle too...

Gunner313 01-01-2011 12:48 PM

That was my first thought. Here is a good one. I edited the slide a little only to hide the model.

After six days I guess I'll give a hint so this thread don't die.

Its .45 acp and DAO, made in the 70's, production numbers about 1500 made.

Zulu Two Six 01-07-2011 09:35 PM

I'm guessing a Sturm Ruger Pre-'73 in maybe something like .41 caliber?

k9870 01-08-2011 11:15 AM

Caliber range is right, not exactly a 41 though, and its no ruger, its a much more obscure company.

A Virginian Dragoon in .44 Magnum?

k9870 01-08-2011 09:33 PM

No. Its not in a common caliber.

When you say not a common caliber, do you mean it's something like .44-40 WCF, .38-40 WCF, and .32-20 WCF, or even more obscure than that?

k9870 01-08-2011 11:15 PM

More obscure, like, the company that made the gun invented the cartridge for it, and fairly modern.

Hint, digit caliber.

Herter's .401 Powermag revolver. YES! Finally found it! :D

k9870 01-09-2011 02:15 AM

Good work thought nobody would find it:)

k9870 01-13-2011 04:20 PM

What are the rules if the person who guessed last gun doesn't post again?

Zulu Two Six 01-13-2011 09:36 PM

anyone can do it

How bout this one?

Nyles 01-14-2011 12:16 AM

English Kerr revolver, used by the Confederates in the Civil War. Hasnt someone done that one already?

k9870 01-14-2011 12:26 AM

Heres an obscure piece of crap.

Gunner313 01-14-2011 08:44 PM

Clerke 1st Revolver available in .32 and .22.

A friend has one that I thought was a cheap cap gun.

k9870 01-14-2011 08:44 PM

Wow just my luck somebody here had seen one! Your turn

Gunner313 01-14-2011 09:07 PM

Hopefully this will be a challenge.;)

k9870 01-14-2011 09:12 PM

Taurus 85?

Gunner313 01-14-2011 09:29 PM

Nope, but it is a .38 special.

I just looked up the Taurus 85, it is almost a dead ringer. Close but no cigar.

k9870 01-15-2011 08:27 PM

Charter arms off duty?

Gunner313 01-15-2011 11:28 PM

Nope. It is a rare gun that was made to compete with Colt's Detective Special. The manufacturer made approximately 5000 but then only released a limited number to the public.

k9870 01-15-2011 11:31 PM

C frame model 73. Why was it such a failure?

Gunner313 01-16-2011 12:51 AM

You got it!
