Not to mention, the character is supposed to be in his mid-20s (at least, he was in "Altaïr's Chronicles"), whereas Fassbender is 35 and looks exactly his age - he's never been an actor who could play younger characters convincingly.

This is clearly an example of trying too hard to capitalize upon star power.

I wouldn't really mind it. I prefer Johnathan-Rhys Meyers for Altair and Henry Cavill for Ezio.

He's at least darker-skinned and, despite sharing a common ethnic heritage with Fassbender, he doesn't look nearly as stereotypically Irish. But I still think that an Arab character should be played by someone with actual Middle Eastern heritage (and, preferably, someone younger/younger-looking than 30).

That I would definitely get behind.

I'm so close to completing my Western Civ paper on Candide.

MT2008 10-24-2012 08:40 PM

My wife just asked me if we could be Christian Grey and Anastasia for Halloween. With a straight face. Wow.

As you can imagine, I've been speechless ever since.

Can I suggest some alternatives?

After an incident invovling myself, vast quanities of bourbon, my fraternity paddle, and my girlfriend who was dressed as a school girl last halloween, the Lady has banned any mention of that book around me. I find it hilarious.

S&Wshooter 10-25-2012 03:03 AM

You know, my 6906 would be pretty concealable if the mags didn't have pinky rests on the floor-plates

Sure, please do. I'm kinda hoping she'll forget about it soon enough, but having alternatives suggestions might ensure that she will.

Haha, yeah, I can imagine that embarrassment would be sufficient to push anyone away from ideas involving Dominants and Submissives.

Unfortunately, my own Lady just read "50 Shades of Grey" a few months back and loved it, even after I pointed out some things about the author that I learned here on IMFDB.

Nick and Nora Charles
Bonnie and Clyde

That's all I have for now.

SPEMack618 10-25-2012 02:51 PM

I believe we will be June and Ward Cleaver.

So, I officiailly crossed into troll terriritory on the Cracked.com forums. I posted our illustrious CINC's quote concerning bayonets and horses and was promptly ripped to shreads by the mod, one of whom said I knew nothing of the modern military. I laughed heartily to myself and went about my day. Think it's about time I pull the plug there.

k9870 10-25-2012 03:48 PM

passed my nremt exam, should be getting paperwork to submit for licencing soon.

SPEMack618 10-25-2012 06:34 PM

Good job! Time to start hunting for a bus to ride around on.

I'm moving to an apartment in the next town over from where I live now. We've been having some minor problems with the current house, like light fixtures randomly bursting into flames when turned on. You know, small stuff. ;)

Is your new apartment nice? I want a nice apartment when my folks kick me out of my house.

Spartan198 10-27-2012 10:07 PM

You know, when someone wants to protest against something they don't agree with, more power to them. But at least have the balls to actually show your face in public instead of wearing a mask like a coward.

Yeah, very nice. Central heating and air, two-room bathroom (the sink in one room and the toilet and shower/tub in the other), small patio with sliding glass door, fairly good neighborhood.

Apparently they don't grasp that if they get nicked the mask is going to come off anyway.

According to current information if the US commander in Africa hadn't been releaved by his second in command for disobaying a direct order it would have looked more like this...

Rain

SPEMack618 10-30-2012 10:07 PM

I don't delve into politics much, if at all, on this board, otherwise you guys might not like me anymore, but I hope against all hope, and prayed that the Good Lord will give General Ham the courage to come out and say exactly what happened that night before the election.

Oh, and on a lighter note, I would love one day to be sitting in front of the Senate Armed Service committee, a la Ollie North answering the following question:

"Sergeant, did you give the order and I quote, 'waste the motherfuckers', yes or no?"

"Madam Senator, you see in the heat of the moment, screw it, hell yes I did, and you know what you bitch, I would do it again in a heartbeat."

Spartan198 10-31-2012 07:48 PM

Woot! My new (used) PS2 is here! I'm so happy I could cry.

Swordfish941 10-31-2012 11:04 PM

Currently wearing a Werewolf mask while dancing to Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London".

What are you guys doing for Halloween?

The Wierd It 10-31-2012 11:20 PM

The same thing I do every night, etc.

Since no-one's interested in hearing me repeat that one again.

S&Wshooter 11-01-2012 01:13 AM

I was going to spend Halloween studying for a Western Civ test I thought I had tomorrow, but I took another look at the schedule and found that it's next Thursday. Now I think I'll either watch a movie or play some Xbox.

I'm going to tell you the same thing I told you before: Feeling sorry for yourself gets you nowhere in life. Haven't you ever tried using Meetup.com at least once in your life?

SPEMack618 11-01-2012 05:58 PM

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but what the hell, one of my Fraternity brothers got a job posting, good raise, promotion, housing allowance, company truck, everything.....in Billings, Montana.

He uprooted and moved out there, and after three months, and one massive elk, was hopelessly bored...and starved for female companionship.

He and is now engaged....to a girl he met on match.com

It's less bad than it was before considering I actually get out on a daily basis and interact with people.

Good. Now take a look at Meetup.com and find some groups to join, even for stuff you're already into (and if I recall, you're a pretty big "Stargate" fan, correct?) My favorites are the ones for bar-hopping and going to concerts. Right now, I am based part-time in the Washington DC area, and every time I come up to DC, I attend events where I RSVPed on Meetup beforehand.

k9870 11-06-2012 04:04 AM

paperwork went through, im a licenced emt now

SPEMack618 11-06-2012 06:21 AM

Boosh! Now go shove a tampon up some kid's nose whether he needs it or not and look entirerly too srious as you do it.

I just noticed, while looking that the page for Black Ops 2, that some of the characters will be wearing Rhodesian Bush Camo.

I bet those guys will be terrorists in one way or another, so that camo pattern isn't really an appropriate choice

Isn't that supposed to be Jonas Savimbi? I remember hearing that Angola was one of the game's locations, but I had no idea it was during the civil war days.

SPEMack618 11-07-2012 09:40 PM

How awesome, yet politically uncorrect, would it be to have a game where you start out in the SADF/Rhodesian Army fighting ANITA and then get hired by Excutive Outcomes?
