Dark Sector. It's an oddity in that about half the weapons are based on one weapon but named after a completely different weapon [G36K called "Korbov TK6" after the Korobov series, both shotguns named after Armsel Striker variants even though neither is one, M14 called "VX Carbine" after the AS Val or VSS, etc]. I was thinking it was a USP, but I had an odd feeling it might actually be based on Leon's not-a-USP from Resident Evil 4.

The pistol's called the "Tekna 9mm" in game, incidentally.

Well Leon's not-a-USP is in fact based on the USP, and is labeled as such on the site, so I'd say it's safe to call it a USP, despite it's cruel bastardization.

I think it looks far more like a H&K Mark 23 Mod 0 pistol. Just look at the size and shape.

Yournamehere 07-20-2009 10:06 PM

In a wide angle photo where the gun comes away from the shooter, "size and shape" mean nothing. However, it does more closely resemble a Mark 23 because of the sights and the giant fucking layzor on the rail. Slipped my mind because of how much I do not like the Mark 23.

Gunmaster45 07-20-2009 10:08 PM

I mean it looks big in his hands, as does a Mark 23 in most people's hands, it being a monstrous pistol and all...

I'll try to get more images of it. Meantime, this:

This is the "Vekesk Micro." It's named after the SR-2 Veresk, but it's certainly not one of those with that seperate magazine well. Seems like some heavily fudged M3 or similar. The game is at least consistant with using the wrong names; they even show the Ka-60 Kasatka as a UH-60 Blackhawk. I'm not sure why; it's either a matter of availability or some sort of complicated joke only the publishers understand, I'd guess.

It looks a tad like a Kimel AP-9, but it may be some type of fictional gun.

Ok, found some promotional images. Two posts in a row here, since the forum won't let me post more than four images at once:

Tekna 9mm and Tekna Burst, a burst-firing version with an extended mag. These are probably Mark 23s, since it says "Mark 24" on the slide. Can't read the 9mm's slide, but I have a bigger image of the burst version; it had "Cal 45 auto" stamped further back.

The mysterious Vekesk Micro. Note that Dark Sector has a unique approach to throwing brass in the wrong direction; Hayden has right-handed guns, but the "Glaive" weapon his infection gives him forms from his right hand, so after he's infected he shoots with his left.

Hammer 1895. Pretty certain this is a Webley named after the Nagant M1895. It shares ammo with the M14; I guess that's the Nagant name kicking in, using the "all cartridges of the same calibre are interchangeable" rule to fire 7.62x51mm NATO instead of 7.62x38mmR. Because it's a revolver, this also magically becomes 7.62x51mm NATO Magnum ammo.

"Striker" shotgun.

"Protecta" shotgun.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...AKS-74_art.jpg

AKS-74. Looks to be a 74U with a new stock [telescopic, but probably based on the various underfolding stocks on 74 clones], suppressor [that for once is actually pretty loud] and reflex sight.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ff/RPG_art.jpg

The classic one-grip fake RPG-7. Weirdly extended tube; it looks almost like they flipped the grip of an RPG-2 around and stuck the back end of an RPG-7 on it.

There's also a generic sawed-off double-barrel called the "Spectre;" that's just going under 12-gauge double barrel, but I'm not sure if it's named after a different shotgun like the others are [Remington Spartan, possibly, since it's made in Russia]. And the VX Carbine and Korbov; the former wasn't in the previews and is clearly an M14, the latter is so blatantly a G36 it isn't even worth a picture, and the preview picture looks nothing like the in-game model anyway.

Gunmaster45 07-21-2009 09:06 PM

The first shotgun is a Mossberg 590 "Compact Cruiser" and the second one looks like a Benelli M1 Super 90.
