Guy Fawkes was a martyr for the Catholics.

Exactly. V is the reincarnated version of Guy Fawkes who completed Guy's mission (blowing up the House of Parliament).

Yeah seriously. Fawkes was a fighter for Spain and the Catholic Church. His goal was to end the slightly more egalitarian Protestant revolution in England by restoring Catholic domination. If the Gunpowder Plot had actually succeeded, Britain would probably look less like an anarchist commune and more like the fascist police state Alan Moore warned us about.

Which is why religion has no business being mixed with politics (and vice versa) unless you want to fuck everything up for everybody

Amen! Good to see somebody who keeps up on their history.

And yes, how Guy Fawkes became a poster boy for many modern wannabe "revolutionaries" (even before "V for Vendetta") is beyond me. Catholicism and fascism pretty much ran hand-in-hand during the 30s and 40s.

The religion of Catholicism has always been perceived as some power hungry sect under the guise that it is God's will.

I am a christian but I am not of any particular denomination mostly because it's annoying to keep track.

They're making a movie version of CHiPS and Wilmer Valderrama is attached to it. I have a feeling he'll be playing Ponch.

He already played Ponch in a sketch comedy parody of CHiPs, I think it was on MadTV.
