Kojima chose all guns to be fictional because the portrayal of the real, licensed guns may constitute copyright infringement. Plus he's a pragmatist, so rather than changing the gun name and keeping the appearances the same like earlier Counter Strike do in the past, he decided to make fictional gun, probably to avoid getting sued. But in the eyes of a majority of gamers who are not gun savvy, it's a cool looking gun, so why not?
As for the slings, I don't know about that. I imagined it's one of advanced rubber-y battle suit feature that Snake wearing that makes the gun floating on his side. |
