Excalibur 11-10-2009 03:18 PM

I know a couple guys who had to get one unfortunately. I really don't seen why it's so prized. I mean, as a set piece and for impressing noobs at the range, but it's heavy as hell. Sure there's a scare factor, but who would carry conceal a desert eagle anyway?

k9870 11-10-2009 03:40 PM

Well, on tfl there is someone who told the story of his friend who does, but it actually makes sense. The guys about 7 feet tall and a real big dude, a full sized 1911 looks small in his hands. The DE .50 was the only handgun he found he could grip confortably so he got it as his HD/carry gun.

Ok, for huge guys with big hands, I can understand, but for average guys, the Desert Eagle is big and the recoil is even bigger

I was just playing online, and theres people who already have acrs and other high level guns? How they got those already?

By not sleeping?

k9870 11-11-2009 03:02 AM

the game came out today. I wonder how many people just went straight online instead of playing through singleplayer.

Jack Slater

Excalibur 11-11-2009 04:51 AM

Jack Slater's overrated.

Anyway, MW2 is awesome so far.

Quite a few, I imagine.

Has anyone noticed any movie references in the SP campaign? ;)

Excalibur 11-11-2009 04:38 PM

I can see a few movie references, but the big one was obviously "WOLVERINES!!!"

Spartan198 11-11-2009 08:18 PM

Another noticeable one is within the mission "The Gulag": The layout of the shower room, and the ensuing firefight within, is almost identical to the one in The Rock.

Excalibur 11-12-2009 04:18 AM

Well the layout of the shower room is almost exactly like the one in the Rock, except it's longer. And of course, enemies came from the other side of the area as well as from the elevated positions. I believe Rainbow Six did The Rock moment as well.

Markit 11-12-2009 11:30 PM

There's also a section in the mission "Just Like Old Times" that resembles the scene from Iron Man when Tony Stark escapes from captivity.

Excalibur 11-13-2009 04:16 AM

Not really that similiar. It's just a generic desert cave battle. Nothing like Iron Man. Now if you get to walk out of the cave with flame throwers, then it's be like Iron Man

I wasn't referring to the fighting inside the cave, but the part where Soap and Price escape the headquarters and pass through a valley with an ammo dump that looks identical to the exterior of the terrorist base in Iron Man. IIRC, one of the level designers even specifically said that part was inspired by the movie.

It could be

k9870 11-13-2009 07:55 PM

I love this game but there still aren't many online maps, i feel i replay the same 3-4 all the time. Also, special ops mode kindof sucked, seeing half of them you can only play co-op. None of spec ops was all that great to get me going back. I also hate how you can't talk to friends during team deathmatch, in cod4 i could talk to all my friends. Now i need to be in free for all. Also, whats with hosts migration mid game a lot? COD 4 never did that. Just a few gripes, overall fun as hell to play. I just needed to throw out whats wrong since so many people consider it perfect.

That's because when ever the host left the game would just end. Now it finds a new one and the game continues.

Excalibur 11-14-2009 05:09 PM

I like the host migration since it happened a lot in the first game and I lost a lot of points. And I think you can talk to teams through Steam. The developers did say they are bringing out new maps soon, but the 360 are getting them first.

I just hate it that everything is match making and you can't just select what you want like in the first MW game.

k9870 11-14-2009 06:38 PM

The host thing very rarely used to happen, now its common. I hate not talking though, especially when the other person is playing a different game.

k9870 11-14-2009 06:47 PM

i also hatye the matchmaking, it takes forever to join a server. I also get way more lag in mw2

Excalibur 11-14-2009 06:49 PM

It's stupid about the whole conversing thing. The developers were really lazy on a lot of aspects that they could have improved on for the PC.

One big this is during the EMP when all electronics went offline, so any aimpoint or red dot or EOtech should be off, but they stupidly took the lights from the ACOG off.

In an ACOG the fiber-optic strip works like a glow in the dark sticker; absorbs sunlight to illuminate the part of the reticule where the point of aim is. Some supplement or replace this with tritium, which isn't dependent on sunlight and also is unaffected by EMP But in the game, they turned the lights of the ACOG off, leaving only the reticule.

k9870 11-14-2009 07:10 PM

i get pissed when i lag out a lot, start skipping around the map, totally lose control or have someone teleport when there in my sights. COD4 ran wayyyy smoother.

Excalibur 11-14-2009 09:02 PM

Then you got a bad connection, that or get more ram

k9870 11-14-2009 09:28 PM

connection worked perfectly for cod4. times ot way more for mw2.

AdAstra2009 11-14-2009 11:35 PM

My tag on Xbox Live is Kesen 72 if anyone wants to play.

k9870 11-15-2009 12:59 AM

Diesel McBadass

Kinzer 11-15-2009 02:39 AM

If anyone was playing tonight, did you notice an extreme amount of lag. Every game it would keep picking new hosts and would lag like hell.

k9870 11-15-2009 03:43 AM

I notice the lag, it sucks.

Excalibur 11-15-2009 05:52 PM

The ending of the single player isn't very satisfactory. It's obviously leading us into another sequel.

k9870 11-15-2009 06:18 PM

what i don't get, is makarov is an ultranationalist, the ultranationalists now have power in russia, but makarov still fights against russia?

He wanted to provoke war between Russia and the United States, hence the massacre of civilians in "No Russian" with US weaponry.

I gotta admit, the plot of this one is a bit confusing. :p

k9870 11-16-2009 03:45 AM

Yeah, i wish we had gotten to kill makarov too. And that at least a few other members of 141 survived.

Excalibur 11-16-2009 03:54 AM

The twist with Shepard cleaning house was also confusing somewhat.

k9870 11-16-2009 04:11 AM

Yeah, and the fact the first part of the game hes in routine combat (generals dont roll up to the front lines) and using a colt anaconda?

Excalibur 11-16-2009 04:55 AM

Well the revolver for the general might just be something to make him unique. Though I don't know about him being on the front line right where the action is. The very first mission of action where we see him picking you off the ground, hostiles were shooting across the river. A simple sniper could have easily picked off the general. Now later on when the general arrived to personally kill Roach and Ghost, that's more of his own thing.

My real problem is that they don't follow up with a debriefing about why the Russian attacked, the extent of the damage and are there any Russians left in the US? Then about what is Shepard's angle in all this?

The Russians attacked because Makarov framed the United States for the massacre of the civilians in "No Russian".

Excalibur 11-16-2009 03:30 PM

But to what end?

k9870 11-16-2009 03:54 PM

you see green flares on all the monuments in whiskey hotel, which means the city is back in american control. what the russians were trying to accomplish by airdropping in that few troops....no idea. Its pretty much a pointless strike. And how did they just sneak in like that?

COD4's plot was pretty believable and well written. MW2...well.....wtf?

BTW, i love how people think the riot shields a great weapon. I just sidestep, even just slightly, and knife them.
