Also, there is already too much media fanfare surrounding JSOC commander William McRaven. Time just put out an article calling him, "The Man Who Got bin Laden", which is slightly inaccurate (he deployed the team, wasn't leading the team or pulling the trigger), but is sure to make McRaven into a high-priority target for the jihadis.

Oh, I don't care about sensitive to them. Muslims have shown themselves to be hypocrites on the "sensitivity"/"tolerance" issues so many times that I don't have much sympathy. Im wondering how/when bin laden photo will get out (apparently nobody in CONGRESS has even seen a real photo. It is:

A. Going to be released october 2012 while obamas tring to get cred for election
B. Released through freedom of inormation act over the courese of ears due to the legal battles and appeals, but in the end there is no legal reason to withold.
C. Leaked, source will send it out.
D. Never.

Yeah, it was a dumb idea in retrospect to sell China those Black Hawks (though notice that it was the Reagan administration that did it). Back in those days, though, everybody still believed that economic prosperity led to democracy and expected China to become a democratic country eventually, instead of the model for "free market authoritarianism" that it has become today.

Also, while it was a mistake to establish military cooperation ties with China in the 80s, at least we're not like the Israelis - who are STILL one of China's biggest arms suppliers to this day (even though they know how much it pisses us off). I think it's one of the most reprehensible partnerships in which the Israelis have ever been involved (second only to apartheid South Africa).

Israel has shown an immense degree of tolerance for totalitarianism if it supports their own ultimate goal of national survival - to the extent that any democratic movements in neighboring countries can be construed as threats since they tend to reflect the anti-Israeli sentiments of the populations there, as opposed to the "We can tolerate Israel's existence for foreign aid/non-interference in internal affairs" stance that the Arab leadership has taken.

Making it another Islamic regime would be just as bad as it is now. A secular government is the only answer, with all Jews and Palestinians given equal voice, all ethnic and religious distinctions erased in the eyes of the state. Anyone who doesn't want to play nice (Hezbollah, Zionists) can just leave, or be labelled an enemy of the state and terrorist and be prosecuted. The Jews like to portray themselves as being peaceful and wanting to be left alone to be Jewish in their Jewish homeland, using military action only defensively.
