I've fired about 50 rounds from it. It recoil feel is a bit different than other .45 ACP handguns i've shot before and especially different from some 1911s i've shot. The slide at first seemed a bit tough to pull back, but I got used to it the more I use it. All in all, it's a pretty awesome piece. I plan to get an extended mag for it later on, giving it a 10+1 round capacity

Hey, GM, how much easier does that compensator make it to shoot?

Gunmaster45 07-16-2009 05:49 AM

I'd say it cut recoil 40%. Much more pleasant to shoot now. If you do ever install the same type of comp though, put a heavy spring in. The comp adds weight to the slide that slows it down, which can lead to unreliability.

Ive heard they're not good at night though due to increased muzzle blast and soot building p on front site. Is this true? Im interested in less recoil bt don't want to sacrifice reliability and shootability.

It doesn't build up on the front sight. But it will fill in the cracks of the comp with crap, so you'll need a bore mop and a toothbrush to clean it.

And night is the best time you shoot it, you get to see its awesome muzzle flash.

My dream 1911 is a SA pro, but In the future I also want to buy a basic gun, like maybe a rock island for 400 and practice custom work like compenators, new springs, etc.
