Seen too many p3at problems before, no experience with 9 versions but the barand seems cheaply built and I hate DAO autos with a passion.

I wear a light jacket most of the year and I (as I have repeated before but you guys keep forgetting) am a fairly large guy. A 3913 would be for when I'm wearing a jacket, some kind of J-frame for when I'm not in a jacket

It seems to me that the XD, being as chunky a gun as it is, would get caught on something when you tried to draw.

You made it sound like the 3913 would be an excellent option for microcarry since you mentioned a tiny J frame and had followed up on k9870's speech on the LCP being good for jogging, and you didn't clarify it'd be a jacket gun.

Even so, if you're wearing a jacket, there are other, much better options than a 3913, like Matt's choice in a Glock 19, and even with your brand miopia on S&W, a 6906 is doable. It's only a bit thicker, and only be heavier by a few ounces, but most of those come from four extra rounds.

I can't wait to start CCing so I can figure out how much this large gun/weight stuff really does matter, and if I can find a place to stuff my Hi-Power.

It would be sweet to pack a Glock 19 or a BHP. The 6906 would in fact be better than a 3913, if I could find one ( although I'm pretty sure a shop nearby has something similiar)

I have had my CCL since last Sept. I have yet to carry anything but my Model 442 j-frame outside my house. Around the house I carried my SW1911 Commander and one of my BHPs, to see how they would feel. They are both comfortable in a Milt Sparks VM-2. (using one of Milt's belts also.) I thought sitting down would be the problem, it isn't. Getting up is where problems arise, my shirt wants to ride up on the gun. (What's out of the holster is the enemy.) With a jacket it wouldn't be a problem, but in FL even during the wintertime you have days where it's cold as hell, other days it's not. I might eventually look into getting some larger shirts. I have also thought about going with a bobtail on my Colt Commander project, even though I don't care for the looks of them. They allow a shirt to drape down smoothly. Also S&Wshooter, how can you stand wearing a jacket even a light one in Texas all year round? Texas may be a dry heat but still.

There's been some news going around about FL allowing OC, which would be sweet. I wouldn't do it under most cases, but it would nice that if my shirt rides up and gun is exposed it's not big deal.

My local gun shop had a 3913 the last time I was in there. It looked to me like a nice piece to have in a carry rotation.

Dry heat? There is no such thing as dry on the Gulf Coast.

I wear a M85 Field Jacket almost year round, but it really doesn't bother me and since I'm inside in the air conditioning most of the time and I withstand heat better than most people I know.

I had no idea where you where in Texas. It's been a number of years since I visted Texas and it wasn't along the coast.

Humidity is super high along the coast. It's pleasant whenever it is cold though

Um, you prefer smith and wesson autos, the biggest chunkiest most overbuilt guns ever. l like smiths and XDs, but calling the XD big and chunky when your favorite is a 4506 is a little out there.
