We're reading Romeo & Juliet in English class and I get to be Tybalt! :D

I would have figured you'd go for the role of Juliette... :p

I hated reading that. I had to read for the guy who was pretty much the chief of police (I can't remember his name)

I'm not gonna say that Shakespeare is overrated (because he's not), but all of his characters are absolutely godawful human beings.

His name was The First Watch of Verona.

Many "classic" characters suck. In 1984, i wanted winston to die. In the catcher in the rye, i wanted to slap the whiny kid in the face and could care less about his character.

When I watched The Social Network, I wanted to kick Mark Zuckerberg in the balls because he's an asshole (Andrew Garfield and Rooney Mara agree with me).

I liked the modern version. It made the story easier to follow, even while using the original language. I mean, they incoportated guns, cars, police, everything, and it still made sense with the old language. I thought that was impressive. Plus it was stylish and made a story that is frankly very boring and sad somewhat enjoyable and conveyed the tradgety much better IMO.

Speaking of R & J in English class, when I had to read it in 7th grade, we had to act out scenes for the class. I got to play Romeo for the sword fight with Tybalt. I tried to teach the kid I was fighting how to stylishly fence to look authentic, but we were in 7th grade and he was a dick, so basically I just beat the crap out of him with the plastic sword for the scene. 'Twas fun. :)
