Caught some kind of stomach bug. It kinda sucks

That about sums it up. :D

SPEMack618 11-26-2013 06:38 PM

I saw a demotivational poster with that same picture but said:

"Remember your gear is made by the lowest bidder" across the top and "PMAGs" across the bottom.

Spartan198 11-26-2013 09:09 PM

Was it supposed to be a stab at PMAGs or an endorsement of them? I don't recall ever hearing anything bad about them that wasn't just a personal nitpick (like most of Magpul's products). One was even allegedly run over by an APC and still functioned flawlessly.

SPEMack618 11-26-2013 09:38 PM

An endorsement of them was what I took from it. The STANAG mags are a crap shoot in regards to condition if you draw them from the armory, not saying they aren't well made to begin with, but they just get beat to hell over time.

Buy your own PMAGs and go with that was what I took from it.

I loved mine.

Looks like an M113 hull that they have cut some windows in and just stuck on top of a truck chassis.

Yeah, I see it now.

RIP Paul Walker. He wasn't exactly a great actor, but he seems like he was a cool bro. And I'd be lying if I denied enjoying the "Fast and Furious" films when I was in high school (and I remain unable to stay away from newer franchise entries even as a grown man).

I was kind of shocked that he died. It just came out of nowhere.

SPEMack618 12-03-2013 03:28 PM

Another gun blog I frequent stated that Walker was a gun guy, actively supported Wounded Warrior, and was on his way to an event to aid the typhoon relief.

Seemed like a pretty good guy.

And now I've realized how ironic Paul Walker's death was.

Only the good die young, I suppose. A modern day James Dean perhaps?

No, but good interpretation. He starred in the Fast and the Furious films and he died in a car crash.

Is anybody following the murder of the teacher in Massachuetts?

One of her students, 14 years old, alledgedly followed her in to the bathroom, sexually assualted her, took her credit cards, iPhone, and panties, then slit her throat with a box cutter.

He tossed her in a recycle bin and then went to Wendys and a movie.

A State Trooper found him later, in pocession of her credit cards and panties.

I can't fathom that kind of evil.

Today is my last day of class this semester, but it also happens to be the day I get out of class at 8:30 in the evening. So much free time today, not a whole lot to do with it

From his IMDB profile:

"I'm passionate about animals and I hunt too. It's like I save and I kill. I'm a walking, talking contradiction. I'm all about preserving the environment but I'm racing cars on the weekend. I tell everyone I'm a gun-loving hippy."

As for Wounded Warrior, read this:

http://www.brobible.com/entertainmen...cee-engagement

Like I said, he will probably never be remembered as a great actor, but he was still in some entertaining films and he lived a wonderful life off-camera. It's nice to see someone who stayed far more grounded than most of Hollwood and relished his hobbies when he wasn't working.

Neither can I; it's one of the most messed-up things I've heard. It almost makes me hate Roper vs. Simmons.

SPEMack618 12-05-2013 02:25 PM

Honestly, I was reading the various articles on CNN about it, I yearned for a "Time to Kill" esque vigilante to appear.

But that isn't how our justice system works.

I hope in some form or fashion, justice is served to this cretin, up to and including him becoming the "date" of some long term lifer in the Massachuetts State Penn named Ernie.

I imagine there's a good possibility that this will happen... *knock on wood*

Been getting used to sketching on an Intuos Pro. It's surprisingly hard to do the old "squares freehand" drawing 101 when you can't turn your paper.

Gah, I've had a really horrible past couple of months. First I got really sick, then I got snowed in and now I've had computer issues. So far my year has sucked.

Police in San Francisco say a teen robbery suspect was accidentally killed by his alleged accomplice when a bullet from the latter's gun struck the former after ricocheting off their victim's face.

Authorities say 16-year-old Clifton Chatman was among a group of muggers who surrounded the unnamed victim on the night of December 14 and demanded his cellphone.

One of the robbers pulled out a handgun while the others went through the victim's belongings in search of other valuables.

Though the victim had complied with all his assailants' demands, the teen holding the gun shot him anyway.

However, in a suprising twist of fate, the bullet fired at the man bounced off his face and reportedly struck Chatman, killing him on the spot.

The teens quickly dispersed, leaving both the victim and Chatman at the crime scene.

Officers arrived shortly thereafter and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Chatman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The alleged shooter, who is also 16, has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted robbery. His name is being withheld because he's a juvenile.

I've heard of .22 rounds bouncing off thick jackets or multiple layers of clothes, but a bullet that bounces off bare human skin? LOL

In that article it doesn't say it ricocheted off of his bare skin just off of his face. I imagine it glanced off of the side of his skull and hit the other mugger (who were standing on all sides at the time) which is perfectly plausible for a .22, and even much bigger stuff.

Thinking about "borrowing" the rubber buttpad my buddy bought for his 91/30 but didn't like, because my M44 feels a bit too short

On a related note, I really wish my Parker Hale was as cheap to shoot as the Mosin; it is quickly becoming my favorite bolt-action rifle, and it sucks that it's so expensive to shoot
