I received a Google Wave invite from somebody in my research group today. Apparently, lots of people are trying it.

But even after watching the YouTube video, I still don't really understand what it is.

Popularity isn't what's relevant. I care more about whether or not it's useful and whether I will enjoy using it.

I agree with MT. If Markost's description of it is correct and it does what it's advertised to do, it'll likely catch on. Necessity is often the root of popularity.
