Gun companies do pay to have their guns featured in films regardless of whether it is realistic for that situation. This happens all the time but you mostly never hear of it, one that became public knowledge because it was listed as an example on the company website was the SEALs in Lone Survivor carrying Berettas. If we accept the fact that deals like this happen, I can see a potential situation where a company would want that gun that people actually buy to be the one that is featured.

So, since January, short-barreled firearms fitted with braces are apparently no longer pistols legally, and are now considered SBRs. Manufacturers have been accordingly removing braced weapons from their websites and replacing them by non-stocked "pistols".

Never stood a chance, though I sold my Noveske/Daniel Defense MK18 clone nearly two years ago now to be safe. (Granted: I had also decided that I didn't really like the recoil impulse of a 10.3" barrel in 5.56; my next AR pistol will be a .300 Blackout build with an even shorter barrel.)

We'll see if ATF appeals it, which will cause 5th to uphold the decision and the issue to get kicked up to SCOTUS. But given the bump stock ruling (and the ruling on Chevron), we already know how SCOTUS feels about the ATF's misuses/abuses of their authority.
