I didn't think ships caught on fire when they were scuttled, at least not civilian ones. And scuttling a ship seems to be a really excessive means to destroy evidence of illegal fishing. How much jail time and how much in fines can we be talking about here? It's not like they'd get any insurance money out of it either.

For this kind of incidents, the company must pay the fine for all the crew. If you don´t find any evidence, you can´t arrest them. Burning the vessel is cheaper than paying the fine, you´re going to lost all the cargo and the ship anyway.

Did anyone other than me laugh at this? It just seems so absurd, almost like something out of The Onion (remember that fake article about animal rights commandos who "liberated" animals from a testing lab?) Except...it's not.
