Premiere is good, but not all that much easier to use (at least, IMO). Anything Adobe makes usually has a bit of a learning curve. At many universities and art schools, there are entire undergraduate classes dedicated to learning particular Adobe software packages.

True, but k9870 isn't (by his own admission). Just wanted to make sure he's aware that Premiere will require some time to learn.

I figure if you ask someone who knows what they are doing what would be a good program, they're going to suggest whatever program they use

I had experience using dedicated editing machines in a video class but not using computerized programs.
