The FAMAS was used in one French movie I think, District B13 or something like that.

The second, possibly one of the most underrecognized rifles, the FAMAS. It has three active fire modes, semi, burst and auto, and is super compact. one thing the French did right. Pity you never see them in movies, and when you do (like in Diary of the Dead) you're like "what the hell is that doing there?"

Not being IMPORTED in the U.S. has a lot to do with them not appearing in movies. The few that got into the country in the 1980s are now super expensive because ATF banned their importation (ATF sure does a lot of that don't they?) But if they came in greater numbers, (like the imported HK, AK, etc.) they would probably be in more films, or at least be represented more in movie armories.

A movie called The Nest was another it was used in (with a lady shooter, too, and she was cute), and the season 1 finale of The Unit had several FAMAS in it.

FAMAS, my least favorite rifle

5.56mm-check
Poor Sights:Check (so far above barrel adjustment sucks and the front/rear are way too close together
Fire Rate so high you waste ammo fast:check

They look cool in video games, just are useless in real life

I think Weapons Specialists (Rick Washburn's rental armory) has at least a few in stock, because if you go to their web site, they have a picture of one from their inventory:

Personally, I think another reason that the FAMAS doesn't appear in many movies is simply because it's so friggin' ugly, but I guess that's a matter of taste.

BTW, I saw some sci-fi TV show from many years ago (I can't remember which one, but it was on UPN around 2000) which had BGs who were supposed to be rogue French SF. I think they were using the FAMAS, or maybe Mini-14 Bullpups standing in for the FAMAS (it's been so long that I can't remember very well anymore).

Well, if they aren't banning guns they're being trigger happy and gunning people down.

Ugh, what is this monster? And I do mean monster as an ugly monstrosity. Looks like they took the M16 design and turned it into an aborted love child of a FAL
