5.45s are much more common NOW, but a lot of armories won't spend a ton of new capital $$ on a bunch of 5.45 guns. Sure there are some but the vast majority of guns are 7.62x39mm. Remember MOVIE blanks are usually full brass, crimped, full flash (or half or quarter depending on need) but they're pretty pricey because they're made to good specs. Decent blanks are required, because a production will get pissed at you if your blanks don't feed or cycle well and ruin a VERY EXPENSIVE take.... :eek:

How much effort does it take to convert a blank adapted weapon to shoot live rounds?

For AK's at least, the rifle can already shoot blanks if put a blank muzzle adaptor on the threads. Take it off and then you can shoot live ammo again.
