So, random curiosity, does David Crane of Defense Review know anything about what he reports on, or is he really a complete joke like almost everyone seems to think?

Guess I'll have to wait 180 days to apply again. I'm also probably going to try the Army and Navy. |
So I was just given an entire Air Force track suit complete with two pairs of running shorts and a pair of AF-issue boots (only the jacket fit me), four old patches (two branch tags and two Airman First Class rank patches), a set of A1C rank pins, an Air Force training ribbon, two name tags, and a CD case with several movies and music CDs in it.

I'm pretty sure I got stupid lucky in that there were no jobs to be had around here before I started looking for one, but now it seems everyone is hiring

So it seems Congress has called bullshit on the military putting brand identity before effectiveness when designing camo and ordered a return to joint-service patterns within five years.
Who do y'all think is going to start bitching first? |

Funny how the Corps has no issue with the Georgians wearing it, yet they get up in arms at the mere suggestion of their countrymen in the same military wearing it. |
Decided to give driving up to University of Houston a try because riding the bus takes too damn long, and decided to stop at a gas station near campus. When I was waiting in line to check out, I spotted a Harris County Sheriff's Deputy packing a first gen S&W Sigma. It looked like a toy at first glance. It seems that the Galveston and Harris county deputies get a whole hell of a lot more freedom in what they can carry than the police departments in the area; I keep seeing 1911's, S&W 5946's, and S&W 4046's. I even saw a tiny little woman deputy packing a nickel plated Colt Python a while back.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/Anime/27.jpg On an unrelated note, every time I do a web search related to HALO (you know, the military freefall technique), 99% of the results are for that fucking video game and I'm getting sick of it. |
Maybe you should search for the term instead of the acronym then. Or tag "jump" on the end of it.

You know, one thing I miss about the 80s was that back then every kid knew that our cars were going to have secret machine guns. I'm not entirely sure what we were going to do with them, but 2013 has a distinct lack of secret machine guns and I can't help feeling cheated.
|
All cars, not just British cars, need secret machine guns.

As for what new pattern to field: Dunno about MARPAT; I'm not a big fan of the pixelated camo trend in general. However, the method that the Corps used to field that pattern is a good one - separate woodland and desert patterns, plus body armor whose color scheme is a blend of the two. I'm guessing what's going to happen is that DoD requests a desert version of MultiCam, and then they field body armor in the same color scheme that the Corps are using now. |

Had a 4 hour long anxiety attack today. Awesome

I'm growing increasingly annoyed at how the actors in all these commercials demonizing cell phone use while driving, are actively trying not to pay attention to their driving. I have no problem with abiding by the law (even though I think it's a ridiculous law) and I'm not saying everybody is as attentive as they can be, but come on.

I'm working on a Fantasy story and I wanted an Interesting weapon that would scare the protagonists(at least until they get their hands on one.)
I found an image of an Axe Rifle that the Dwarven Lass in the party will love. The bad guys had it alchemically enchanted so that things like weather, fouling, overly large powder charges and hitting armored opponents in the face will not affect the rifle. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps02113d7c.jpg |
Hitting up the airsoft field on the 6th. Last game was May 25th, a zombie game.
Turns out a tri-shot shotgun is REALLY good for point shooting. Also, there was a point in the second round where my team (civilians) was holed up in a fort behind the church where the Westboro Baptist Church team was hiding, and the militia team looking to steal the gas cans that were their objective got caught up fighting zombies after getting in. So in chimes Jaime as we're standing guard: "Dude, the entire militia team is backing into us!" Cue about 7 or 8 guns all simultaneously firing into the backsides of the militia as they backed away from the zombies without realizing that we had occupied the building behind them. |

Also, this is the stupidest aircraft carrier ever constructed. http://www.maritimequest.com/warship...furious_14.jpg Yes, you were supposed to land on that. And for extra stupid, at the back of this 20,000 ton ship was the biggest gun fitted to a ship until Yamato. http://www.maritimequest.com/warship...furious_01.jpg |

I'm re-writing an old story of mine and I needs some weapon ideas for a gang of neo-Nazis.
There are the rank and file members and then there is an "Elite" Stormtrooper unit that is heavily armed and is involved in armed robbery, kidnapping and Murder. |
Well, Zimmerman was found not guilty. Bring on the race riots.
