Bob Dylan unknowingly created the phrase "fail".

MREs taste awful. I bought a case of them this weekend and decided to take one with me to lunch today, so that I didn't have to leave the library and use the (barely functional) microwave in the grad student lounge. I had a beef patty and macaroni-and-cheese meal in which I could barely tell the difference between the two entrees (both tasted quite rubbery).

At least they come with extras, and I think the Flameless Ration Heater is kinda neat. I gotta figure out how to use the FRH on civvie food.

We got a bunch of them for free the last time a hurricane came through. I ate a few of them, the heat thing is cool to use. They're better than nothing, but not something you would want to live off of.

MREs have way too much salt too make me thirsty.

MREs taste fine to me

BurtReynoldsMoustache 01-18-2011 09:44 PM

why would you eat MRE's if you don't have to?

I know peopel who do since they think it makes them look cool. I went hiking with a friend and he used a old school lbe rig and brought an mre for lunch and a military canteen. the rest had camelbacks, sandwiches, and regular backpacks. My friends lower back was killing him due to weight distribution of the lbe, his canteen ran out of water way before camelbacks, and he was thirsty from the salt of the mre. Since then he never cared about wearing military gear, he took what goes well for what your doing. MREs are expensive too....
