What does the new SOPA act do? Everyone in facebook is talking about "violating freedom" and making it seem like hitler made the bill but none can ssay why its bad, and a google search is bringing nothing but retoric whats solidly the answer to what this thing does?

It's intended to cripple our god-given right to pirate stuff with the internet.
wiki The internet obviously doesn't want this to happen. However, the internet is an idiot and can't think of any real reasons to oppose this, so that's why you're just hearing a bunch of aimless ranting. I don't like it because I'm cheap. Forming a more morally defenceable argument is an exercise I will leave to Americans, who's opinion congress might plausibly care about. I will say I think it benefits corporations more than it benefits individuals, which I don't think is the right direction for any government to go in. |
So a law saying the internet has to follow the law is a violation of freedom:confused:

sweet kim jong il is dead
|
That was a pretty funny way to hear about that;
"Cat's buggin me... Kim Jong Il died" North Korea's state controlled news, beacon of credibility that it is, reports that cause of death was physical and mental overwork. Uh-huh, sure. |

This could even mean the party collapses in on itself. |
Civil war, violent revolution, all that is not gonna happen. Kim jong hasn't really been in power for a while months ago many though he had actually died already and it was being kept secret. We can just take pleasure in the fact a brutal dictator bit the dust.

In other news I have found the most pointless site on the internet.

It is in North Korea's interest to make the transition as smooth as possible, whether Kim Jong Un is actually the leader or a mere figurehead, while the South is unlikely to involve itself unless it is a last resort. |

Also, I never said that the DPRK is going to descend into civil war (not the kind that broke out in Libya, anyway). There is a possibility of instability from the top down, however, which means that nobody will really be in control of the entire government for a period of time. As I'm sure you can imagine, the countries that have had to deal with North Korea (on nukes and regional security matters) are used to dealing with a single guy. In the situation we're facing now, dealing with Kim Jong Un and his supporters may be useless because another faction in the regime has goals and terms for negotiations that are completely different. That sort of opacity can be very dangerous in foreign relations. Quote:

In other news...watch "Homeland" if you guys haven't already. It's a really, really awesome show. Not too much gun porn, but the season finale featured what may be the very first Hollywood appearance of FN's FNP-45 (actually, it might be the first time any FNP variant has appeared in a movie or TV show).
